"Mom! They are on the wrong side again!"

Flexi and princess wouldn't let me sort out my pickling this morning they kept bok bok boking. They were trying to alert me too a perch that had fallen in the coop and I thought they were pressuring me for treats. I am so ashamed of myself
Figuring out what they're trying to tell you is always challenging. The noise is......someone's in my nest box and won't share (Cheetah stays out of those...mostly), where is everyone?, I don't like the wind, it torqued my feathers, there's a cat here (it's Castor, he lives here), there's a strange cat here (only one of the aforementioned things I need to deal with).

Kitty nonchalance.....we're WATCHING you, cat!

Got home and let the gang out to run around a bit, gave them some grain and dried meal worms to try to keep them close by.

Of course there is always one who goes it alone. Truly is waiting to be let in from the dreary mud.

Had a bit of worry when I only counted 10, figured out it was Rose and went and found her all broody like in the nest box. 😮 I told her she better not be broody!

Then a lone goose decided to land in the field next to the hens which sent them running for cover - my wee Silkies went and under the blue spruce - good girls!

More bed time drama as I put them to bed early, I wanted to leave the end doors open in the barn and I don't have any mesh or screen to keep the hens in, so to bed they went! The wee Silkies decided to go on the high roost again so I let them stay there, I moved them just now when I feed the horses for the night. They are snug in the bottom nest box with the radiant panel as I am sure they r still chilly, their feathers are coming in and they r looking better 😊

Of course Henny Penny always looks good next to her scruffy sisters hahaha.

When you say 'blue' chipmunk you are referring to the sort of pale grey colored one? I never know what blue means in chickens - but you are right there are stripes visible!
They are growing like weeds. When I got them home yesterday I was worried about the blue one because she was so tiny and seemed sleepy. This morning she pretty much flew right at my face!
The brown chipmunk one is the most 'robust' and has a worrying habit of pecking everybody else (including me).

More seriously, I believe 'blue' is a grey, sometimes darker @ neck. 'Lavender' is Hattie...very light grey throughout, and 'splash' is a chicken that won't always breed true, and can be light to pale grey (almost off-white looking) with feathers or spots on feathers that are black, hence 'splash, as 'splashes' of black. That is the understanding I have gotten by looking at and reading about varieties called 'splash, 'lavender', and 'blue'. Someone feel free to fine tune my understanding if I haven't gotten it quite right. I think initially in the breeding to get 'blue' or 'lavender', you end up with 'splash' in some of the offspring...most of them wouldn't be used for breeding in the next go-round/generation.

Grey doesn't exist. Lavender is every feather is same shade (whole feather). Blue is feather patterned in shades of gray or has dark/light shades on body. If Storm were black/white or black/gold, the feather pattern would be laced because feathers are edged in darker tone. Because it's shades of grey, it's just blue. Because the head is dark and body lighter, it's also blue.
Head is darker.......Body is lighter. 🤔

I guess you mean much darker than Hattie's head.

Wow, been absent for 3 days and a lot has happened. Royalchick has babies. They are so adorable. My grandmother got released from the hospital late Tuesday night. She flat out refused the week of in hospital rehab they wanted her to do. She now is staying with us and starting next week will do in home rehab 3 days a week. She is not happy about that, but it was the only way they would let her come home. She is having to use a walker and is not supposed to get up by herself. Well, me and mom are taking turns watching her around the clock as she tries to do it herself. I've already had to run and catch her once with her trying to sneak out of the bed. We are exhausted, and every day she keeps insisting she's going home in a few days. I'm letting that go in one ear and right out the other.
So hard.
:hugs
The good news is that stubbornness in her will help her recover and refuse to give up.

@rural mouse here is my go at comb and feet for the black one. I have no clue on the comb it is very hard to see. If I had to guess I would say straight/single or whatever that kind is called. I don’t know about the feet either except I think they are pretty cool looking. All I can be sure of is this one does not like the camera and has a cute white fluffy butt!

This one is my favorite. That is a straight or single comb. This little lady will be your black hen you've been wanting. I'm going to guess Australop, unless you found someone with clean leg Marans.
