This is very interesting to me. You have 2, @RoyalChick has 1. I have never heard of any chicken molting in January before. Never. Something is going on but I can't figure what would cause this! 🤔
And Peanut, who started a hard in December and went well into most of January. She still is not as fluffy as she will / should be!

Breakout!

Betty is not afraid of snow. I did not latch the run door behind me and it drifted open. Well she headed for the courtyard where she found Aurora.

I was setting up a new camera to cover the porch area. In the cold this morning that I snapped a piece of the mount off and it won't work now. Here it is sitting on the chair awaiting a new mounting solution.

I have officially lost my mind (feel free to keep your opinion on that to yourself!).
I put Dotty back in the Chicken Palace. I inspected around her vent for nasties and apart from being skin and bones I didn't see any creepy crawlies. I only saw a few pin feathers which is a tad worrying.
But then, when I went in with her, Maggie rushed the door again and stood on the sheet ice in the driveway pecking at snow and ice chips. Their waterer did not freeze so I think it is just she likes eating ice chips.
So, what did I do? Crazy chicken lady that I am? I got the snow shovel and delivered a shovel full of snow and ice into the Chicken Palace.
And yes, Maggie is feasting on it!

Go Betty! I think one day she will lead your tribe. I suspect Phyllis knows this too and is basically saying 'not just yet girlie - get back to your place for now'!
By the way - great place for the camera!
I have been trying to mount some cameras for their manufacturer-intended purpose as security cameras for ages now - but it is too icy in some places and snow drifts too deep in others so I have to wait.
