What a horrible thought, are you awake? Or are you fast asleep and having a nightmare :D
Just an observation I have made with the chickies ever since I saw my wee 13, week old silkie Fluffy McNugget kill and eat a snake !!

I was amazed and horrified at the same time!

All you folk who are knowledgeable about wild birds, what are these? They come every year in their hundreds, maybe thousands. The sky goes dark with them and if you are standing in an area that they have their eye on, the noise is deafening. The huge flock ‘acts as one’ meaning they swarm in and all leave at the same moment. It is an impressive sight.

Grackles, messy birds bit very pretty. There are also Starlings which do a similar thing but they are smaller.

Wow they have good stuff, has anyone ever used one of those carbon fiber heat lamps? I wonder how safe it is...
I am intrigued by that too for those really, really cold nights. I have been a bit shaken by the frostbite incident. I could hang it from the ceiling maybe.
🤔

Can I go ahead and lodge a formal complaint against Ezzie. I get her out several times a day, clean her brooder, feed and water her. Who is her favorite person......Rosie. Rosie will get her out as soon as she gets off the bus, and once before bed. Ezzie will spend the whole time perched on her shoulder. I'm lucky if I can get her to sit for a minute or two on in my hand.
Sadly they do have their favorites. 🤷‍♂️

I would love to help but… as you can see we had a slight weather pattern issue here too. Rainforest… tropical paradise, temperate… my chickens said “heck no!” So weather whining taxes may have to wait until this afternoon when the “white stuff” is gone. And it had better be gone by afternoon… 😡View attachment 3003667
That's what it looks like here most of the time in February. 😱

Well I would like to gloat, but I know you're having enough 'fun' out there. So I shall commisserate with you - at least you will get mild tho! Not so here it seems.

My poor chickies are very glum, and I have been calling home to remind mum to 'check for eggs' so they don't freeze.

This time last year I never had a thought on how to deal with stopping eggs from freezing!! Or what chickens ate, or roost height, broody bunch, and randy roosters!!! 😆
What a difference a year makes!
