Sometimes Nothing Needs to be Said

Have you ever had a group of friends where nothing needs to be said? You can just relax together without saying a thing.

Meanwhile Betty was laying her egg while Phyllis stood by quietly. Silence reigned for maybe 10 minutes.

Just lovely. Maybe time to remove the shower curtains and let that sun shine in so everyone can get their vitamin D boost!

I've been contemplating mucking out the coop: digging all the way down and starting the litter fresh....checked the weather forecast: lows in the teens within a week.....not yet....better to start july/August for the warmth generated occurring in the winter.....but I want to enrich the garden/add another raised bed.....its too early to start turning the dirt, but..... I WANT :barnie

Spring fever is HERE!

For those of you who have dual purpose birds:
How do you prepare your bird?
I do it like this:
1. Put on an old shirt
2. Firmly but cautiously, hold your bird on your chest.
3. Begin stroking your bird (following the feather pattern)
4. Tell your bird it’s going to be a great day.
5. Let them lay their sweet head next to your neck.
6. If they seem interested, let them peck at your socks. Be sure they are thick socks! Ouch.(Don’t show them your bare toes)
Now your bird is prepared for the day!
:old:gig
Any other dual purpose, seems unlikely to me! :D

Yes! On Monday I said hi to a robin just outside the garage.
I have to confess though that the UK Robin wins over the US Robin as a backyard wild bird. The UK Robin has that chicken characteristic of always wanting to investigate what you are up to. So when I was in the UK a few weeks back I had one following me around chatting to me. It helped me be a bit less homesick for my chickens. 🥰
Yesssss.... except that my two Easter Egger hens, "Helen" (my kids name...), and "Go-Go Noodlehead" (my name!), LOATHE all robins, wrens, any type of chirp-chirp birds. Upon sighting such a vicious intruder, an attack by one or both of my fluffy-faced chickens is immediately launched. 😳

Awww 🙂 hi kiddos! Those are some impressive horns! Oh your billy is too big for elastrate, are you going to try the burdezios ?

He is very pretty!
Burdizzos or a “California bander” should supposedly work even at his yearling size. The na-nas need to go though… I sort of so t want to to keep him around for future breeding purposes, but then I start to worry that goat math can become like chicken math, an I might get overrun.
