The Buckeyes didn't really know what to do with the half-cabbage I hung for them in the afternoon, they tried it and ate some but left about half, and I took it in that first evening. They hadn't dealt with anything hanging, swinging and spinning before either. But that was only the first day. They demolished it the next day, though they weren't sure how to deal with the core part. But now, cabbage barely lasts a couple of hours and there is absolutely nothing left. They have always been that way - something new to eat takes a little digestion to get to know, and they have to figure out the mechanics of eating it, since there is nobody with experience to show them.
Hmm, I tried cabbage this fall and nobody even looked at it. I even partially pulled off some leaves in an enticing way - nothing! It eventually froze solid and I threw it in the compost!

It’s not fake. It’s peanut butter made from cashews. Delicious. Send it to me any day!
I’m down with cashew butter spread, and there’s this amazing vegan balsamic beet cashew spread we can get here, with a little havarti on a cracker? to die for! It’s things like Diya “cheese” and “butter” and “beyond beef” burgers I just won’t eat. I don’t even mind a little tofu… properly done, not molded into a fake chicken nugget! Also I’ve had many vegetarian friends and even a few vegans (though those tend to be a little more intolerant of others dietary choices). If someone wants to eat a pretend meat product that murdered a bunch of animals indirectly that’s their choice… now I need to hope the weather holds enough to snag some tax pictures today!

View attachment 3022138I missed fluffy Butt Friday. This isn't a new pic but still some cute round fluffy butts. I'll have to get used to the different photo days so I know what pics to take 😂.
That is one pretty bum. Worth the wait.

I missed Friday as well. Caught this just a few min ago.

You know I find herding chickens ridiculously easy… it usually involves carrying a bucket, scoop, or anything really and walking within sight of them… I soon have a fairly tight formation of vicious little feathered minions at my command. (Some are even highly trained “attack chickens”like Hawk, Sammy, Dean, and my Bully girl) 🤣
Oh silly me! Of course! Duh! I am sooooo dense at times!

You are so right, I am going to use the can of meal worms next time 😊

My gals initially looked at it suspiciously but when I came back a few hours later it was half done. Now they really look forward to it.

It's apples mine don't care for...

It’s Pony Sunday!!! I’m not a horse crazy kid anymore but:

Here’s Donny… a retired half Draft packhorse from a place that does backcountry camping rides (with posh preset campsites, and a food wagon) that DH’s Aunts do every year for two weeks during summer.

And Isla a former harness racing standard bred with supposedly a beautiful gait. She is in her 30’s.

I haven’t ridden in decades, as a citiot wouldn’t be allowed to if I wanted to lol. These two are mostly decorative and usually wander away from the farm and eat the grass at the vineyard. Sometimes they make it down to the beach, but they do stay on the bottom side of the hill. Because they don’t get much human interaction they are super skittish and Isla doesn’t really like me. They are nearly feral TBH. They warmed up to me a little when they found out that I now walk with carrots and apple chips for the goats. ButI wasn’t carrying any this time so Isla strongly objected to my little photo shoot and took off towards the vineyard. Donny follows her lead.

The Paint we had has thankfully been re-homed. He was tall, and beautiful, and hard to handle. He rolled on two “experienced” wwoofer riders bit four people and would bite and chase the other horses. He wasn’t properly socialized or trained before he got here. Then with the lack of interaction and being penned separately he went a little nuts. He now has an experienced family that will work with him regularly, so that’s a win.
