@RoyalChick mentioned some things, and I use plant hooks (hangers) like these:

  • More Birds 12-Inch Extension Hook Steel Feeders, Plants, Windchimes

I get a 2 pack of 8" ones from the dollar store in the U.S.
I was thinking along that line. I'll have to search out the mess in my useless great house.
Heaven's these chickens keep me busy.

Thanks :)

I still haven't found a way to hang the cabbage head and apple :(
I only have thin string right now and cannot see @RebeccaBoyd s fb pictures
What I did to hang up my cabbage was to use a hoof knife and make a hole then string it up using hay string. I never thought about using wire hooks although that is a smart idea as well. Here is one of the video's I uploaded to youtube for you.

Hmm, I tried cabbage this fall and nobody even looked at it. I even partially pulled off some leaves in an enticing way - nothing! It eventually froze solid and I threw it in the compost!
When I first tried this, I had ISA Browns with trimmed beaks and they couldn’t rip bits off. I switched to an iceberg lettuce and it was a hit!

Ok, I commandeered my daughter's youtube account to upload these 2 video's since some people have facebook issues. I had a youtube account but forgot the password and it is with a old email that I can no longer access. First broody shrieks of the season for me.
My gals are like that too 😁

I call them 'The Exorcist' sounds hahaha 🐔

That is pretty intimidating!

I started out using string but my little savages started in on the string and that worried me.
