Actually it was even more cute. When I brought them into the house and opened up the little basket I had them in there were only two. Of course I went into a panic.
Turned out the little black one had crawled inside the sock and was sound asleep in there nice and toasty!

Oh I so miss having chicks but I think 11 is my limit unless I win that lottery tomorrow night ☺️

But it's also too hard on me if they are Roos, I am still sad over my guys I had to get rid of.

But I so miss having the babies around, same with the horses, I do so miss having foals around 💖

I must take some pics of my 'grey' ladies and get everyone's opinion on what they think colour wise.... They lay olive eggs, I just call them barnyard mutts.... But they r pretty :love
Peggy is a Bitsa (bits a this, bits a that) and she's a grey (blue) hen with gold under her chin. She's crested with feathered feet (her slippers) and she lays blue eggs too.

She is lovely. My grey ladies r lighter them she is, one of the has some red feathering on her head. But legs are clean.

I love the feathered legs but always worry about the mud and wet here. Henny Penny has 'slippers' also and I worry about them.

How do you keep the dry and clean?

I thought Peggy wore skates not slippers.

Ten would be a nice round number!
11 is also a good number - then you can average about 7 eggs a day... Or 70 in 10 days.... Yee gads who knew they laid so many eggs 💖

And of course then there is the old saying 'cheaper by the dozen'!!

It rains very little where I live and then, when it does rain, the water runs almost immediately through the soil to the water table. The hens never get a chance to stand in puddles.
