Well I’ve gone and done it… I’m blaming @RoyalChick this time! I was late in collecting the eggs, left them in nest boxes until evening (working on so many projects here…) and when I went to put up the girls… I had three grumpy, broody, wannabe mamas. One departed immediately after I stole her eggs, another pecked at my hand, but was easily relocated to a roost, but the last was my bully girl. I gave her about a dozen eggs, all greens, and set her up in a broody apartment… we will see how it goes. She hatched out two batches of chicks last year. So I’m going to see if she’s as serious as usual.
Can't wait to see chicks I'm a few weeks!

You’ve got new babies?! :love I’m so behind again! I catch up in chunks and literally lose the thread again!
Yes. I sprung it on everyone. Collected them on Thursday but was superstitious about posting in case they died in the night.
Too much reading on BYC leaves me convinced they are bound to drop down dead at any moment.
In reality they seem rather more determined to fly than lay down and die!
:fl :fl

To the extent it is my fault. You are welcome!

For anyone willing to narrow down the guesses on the chipmunk chick here is a video and a couple of shots. The pics are from yesterday - so much growth in 24 hours!

UK avian flu virus in birds gets worse. Stiffen bio security. Some cases found in the USA also.
Yes. It is worth reading this thread. Lots of information and links to APHIS monitoring as well as directives from state vets.
Ignore the title of the thread - it is all states. It is a long thread but for anyone in the US quite informative. It is very worrying. First case in PA reported yesterday. Many in NJ but so far in one very specific area.

Yes I was all paranoid when Henny hatched her chicks, but they were keen to dig in the dirt, eat little worms they dug up and generally run amok 🤗 they are tough little critters!
