OK one more and then I promise I will give you all a break.
Predictably CCC (chonky chipmunk chick) was the first to get up on top of the brooder plate.
She planted the flag on this newly discovered territory by pooping on it. And then returned home to a heroes welcome.
Quite the explorer!

gotta claim your territory any way you can!:lau

so adorable:love

I didn’t know that about legs. I love your use of the word ‘dainty’ because she is a lot beefier than the other two.

Okay, so this is what I got so far:

upturned eyeliner, legs look more pink than yellow, so probably a European breed as most of them have white skin versus most American breeds have yellow skin (though there are exceptions), single comb. I would love to say Welsummer, like @rural mouse , but I'm not convinced. that @RoyalChick would get a 'single' after what @BY Bob has gone through (though many others have mixed flocks with no issues). Unfortunately, if it were to have a crest, it won't show (like her crested legbars) until feathers start to come in....so I'm going out on a limb and guessing cream crested legbar. for ms. chipmunk chickie. They seem to have a lighter yellow leg, so I'm taking a chance here, and guessing as much based on RC as based on the chick.

Wow, been absent for 3 days and a lot has happened. Royalchick has babies. They are so adorable. My grandmother got released from the hospital late Tuesday night. She flat out refused the week of in hospital rehab they wanted her to do. She now is staying with us and starting next week will do in home rehab 3 days a week. She is not happy about that, but it was the only way they would let her come home. She is having to use a walker and is not supposed to get up by herself. Well, me and mom are taking turns watching her around the clock as she tries to do it herself. I've already had to run and catch her once with her trying to sneak out of the bed. We are exhausted, and every day she keeps insisting she's going home in a few days. I'm letting that go in one ear and right out the other.
.prayers for your grandma to recover quickly and also for strength and patience for you and your mom.

I don’t know… I secured the potatoes, the bread, anything I could think of/find. Perhaps this one has a peanut allergy or something? It also got into my cutlery drawer 😡 I didn’t realize that was open at the back, as it’s part of the microwave cart I modified into an island/
countertop. The only things stored in there (now the potatoes are safely in the mouseproofed oven) are literally canned/jarred items like soup.
Mice go everywhere, sadly. Mouse-proofing an oven / stove oven is very difficult, unless you have a good way to do it? I would love to hear. Mice will even - likely, my family was told - get in through the open burner tops of gas stoves. Maybe one can put hardware cloth around the burner below the top? We had mice set up house in the insulated walls of the stove at a summer-only cabin. You couldn't heat up the oven without a terrible stench. We chipped in and replaced the (very small) stove rather than tear it apart and rebuild it, though that was a distant possibility.

I blocked up the opening in the back with 1/4” hardware cloth… it’s mouse proof, the stove top is still vulnerable though. I know this because we have been poop free and storing things like cakes etc inside the oven since I put the hardware cloth in… we had a consistent poop problem inside the oven prior to the HC installation.
Gas oven? They can get in through the broiler drawer at the bottom, or maybe there's no broiler?

Hear this: I had my box fan on last night. (Was a little stuffy in my bedroom) Then it started making a racket, like it was going to explode. I got up quickly and turned it off in the dark. Next moment, I heard scratches and a high pitched squeak. Seems a mouse climbed into the fan, and got the ride of its life. After turning on my iPhone light, I saw the mouse dead on the floor, at the base of the fan. No blood 🩸 or missing limbs, just one beat up mouse!
Score: Box fan 1. Field mouse 0.

Our two dominant roosters got into it today. Cholo, lavender orpington, kicked our EE rooster's butt. Red has never suffered defeat until now but Cholo is twice his size. Mama cleaned him up and Red is in his usual spot on his roost so I believe he will be ok.
Red is looking better but we'll keep em separated for a while. Alternate the days they free range.

Aw… Poor little thing. I’m glad the mouse didn’t make its way into it your house, but that’s a little rough.
