Not when the project is only partway done, not cleaned up, and not at a point that knocking off for the day is an option. Now I've pulled 6 (or was that 7?) Barrows out, dumped 3 bales of pine shavings (5 cubic feet each (I think), waited for them to go spread the pile, cleaned up, spread the pile (they're spreading consisted of avoiding the coop at all costs or scratching in the dirt AROUND the pile). Doing the baby fencing and spreading the straw can wait a few days. The babies arent going out there for another week at least. Now that I've showered and changed clothes, I'm going to head back out with a handful of meal worms to toss in the shavings. Let them brave them then!

View attachment 3035333I probably could have dug out at least 2 more barrows worth, but I was done in by the carpet. What on earth was carpet doing in a chicken coop? (Not my doing, buried before we bought the place, don't think it had chickens in it for at least a decade before).

Nasty that there was carpet in the chicken coop, but so great that you’re getting everything all fresh!

That said, even Dotty who does really attack me also likes my company. So I can’t be all bad.

My service (free for low income folks) is switching networks. I checked with them and the new carrier that my phone was good, bought the new sim card, my phone isn't compatible. They are sending me a new free phone which will be a downgrade from mine. While the new phone ships my current phone has no cell service. So I am without call/text until the new one arrives.

@rural mouse it turns out taking close up pictures of combs is not as easy as I thought. Little wrigglers! Also, I have a chipmunk photo-bomber.
I am starting with the blue one. I swear that comb wasn’t there this morning. It looks straight to me based on your description of how to tell the difference. I think I see little ridges. So cute!

While I was still outside Dotty stopped by for a chat. Her comb is looking good I think. Just a tiny bit of black and a tiny bit of pale swelling on the second finger.

@rural mouse here is my go at comb and feet for the black one. I have no clue on the comb it is very hard to see. If I had to guess I would say straight/single or whatever that kind is called. I don’t know about the feet either except I think they are pretty cool looking. All I can be sure of is this one does not like the camera and has a cute white fluffy butt!
