He is doing this to my new hires as he trains them. It is de-motivating for them. I had one ask if he was fired he did so poorly. It's just not helpful.
I'll just say it - the guy is being a jerk. You hired these people and want to see them succeed. They signed on partly because of their experience with YOU. Of course this is upsetting! I'm mad just hearing about it.

In social encounters people use these tactics as ice breakers to cover their insecurity. One goes away with, "Yup, that guy's a jerk." But this is abusive in an employment situation. He is using his status as a superior to get over on others. This is not helpful to the company or the employees. Hopefully this is not the culture there? Are you the exception? The trainees may be now forewarned and should get out while they can, or hope to be in a different department. Maybe you have an employment handbook that covers this? Some guys never get over grammar school. You know the saying people get promoted to their level of incompetence? Proven here.

I think this is Hazel at two weeks, her wings were much less spotty and barred and she had a deep brown blush in her chick down. I almost named her Caramel, but her full name is actually Hazelnut.

The heated base I put under the 5 gallon bucket with the nipples works well too and isn't that hard to set up. I suppose I could have hauled that out of storage. I need to look at how many days we are having this cold - maybe I just have to admit to myself that winter isn't over yet.
:th
I complained to DH this winter gets a C-. Because I love winter and cross-country skiing, but this back-and-forth is not doing anybody any good. He reminded me it is still March, and the lack of snowpack is the problem. In the past, the weather changes would not have such a detrimental effect.

Can you/do you evaluate him in any way? Are you able to give constructive feedback about this to him or his boss???? You have important work and, from what I hear, it is tough getting enough employees in all healthcare sector atm. why would he want to do this? 1 rigorous thought question that involves more than one topic covered is okay; trick questions are not! Tell him a well trained, seasoned educator said so!:plbb

I hate to say this, but he must have a confidence issue (he may appear cocky as a disguise....) Usually confident, well adjusted individuals don't need to 'trick' others into doing poorly. Generally only those that really aren't self confident (whether they exude confidence it or not), or just plain 'mean' people, or power hungry people need to have the 'gottcha' moments that there isn't a call for.

:rantSorry, as a teacher, bullying, condescending, intimidating behavior really p**s me off. Counter productive, scarring, etc, etc. If you are there to train/teach, then TRAIN & TEACH!!!!:mad::mad:

Bless you for even trying to deal with him!:hugs:hugs:hugs
Yes this

Beautiful girls. They make me think of Ruby!

Could Hazel’s upper beak be slightly overgrown?
I will look again at her beak. I see what you mean in the photo. Looks like a bit is flaking off but I think that is a bit of frazz on it. Look at Butters in the other picture. Is that not OK to have? I think all of the others are like that, there's a good hook on the end that goes over the bottom one. But none are crossed. 🤷‍♀️

Hmm. I thought a bit of an over-bite was normal.
Here is Maggie whose beak looks just like Hazel’s with Diana out of focus in the background looking the same.
Dotty also but less so.
None of them are crossed but I can see they do look a bit like it.

Yes! I think your DH is right. It is the swings that has made it hard.

The ❤️ is for baby Hazelnut.
I agree with your point about jerks at work.

The ❤ is for Blanche. I'm ready for the cold to be done too, but there's something pretty about when it's snowing.....from inside next to a warm fire with a cup of cocoa or cider in hand...
Warm cup of Coco?

A formal introduction: Lulu

Lulu is the smallest of the three and I constantly worry about whether she is thriving. I think it is actually because she will be a smaller chicken than the others as she is perfectly lively.
She is the most skittish and runs away from my hand (unlike 3C who pecks it).

Lulu is a Legbar with lavender genes (not the same as blue jeans). Genetically she has two copies of the 'lav' gene just like Hattie, but she looks different from baby Hattie because the 'lav' gene basically lightens the chick's usual colors. Orpington chicks are solid color so baby Hattie was lavender all over. Legbars are chipmunk chicks and so what you see is basically a washed out chipmunk. As an adult I believe she will be Hattie-colored but with different shades like the Roadrunner markings.

To fend off an attack by our lovely host, Bob, I am aware that Legbars are not a recognized breed by the APA (though they are recognized as a breed in Britain) but they do breed true and if Lulu were to meet a similar colored Legbar rooster she would have chicks the same as her (unlike with crosses such as Bella).

Points to everyone who guessed the lavender part.

Lulu is a name with Arabic origins meaning pearl, and she is certainly precious to me.

Here she is strutting her stuff.

I love the name and I have to say I have NEVER heard of a lavender legbar. Do you have any pictures of an adult hen?

And I am not on the attack. Geeze.
