I thought they made those already:Oh but I wish I had a chicken big enough to ride
One chick is out, I pulled three bad eggs and the second pip didn’t make it… she still has three eggs, two of which I’m fairly certain are ok, and one questionable (full moon and a dark shell makes for really bad candling conditions) praying for a couple more babies tonight… but at least there won’t be any really nasty explosions. She has raised a single before successfully, but it’s nicer when there are more than just the one.I have two pips, both from dark green eggs, I expect there will be chicks out by morning!
Edit to add… I think I’m wearing mamas patience down by lifting her
This looks a worthy steed for me when I lead my feral goat mounted army of cassowaries for dominion over this fair isle… somehow looks less intimidating than an emu… but I’m not a particularly small lady…I thought they made those already:

@MaryJanet
Probably knows about the 'taking your finger off'' bit. Aren't Cassowaries related to the ostrich?
Lovely pics.Had to dig into the archives for some Twofers.
Ok, this one is a threefer, but it’s Ester and Dorothy when Cashew brought them to my lap.

Here are Dorothy and Bridge on my lap (I had forgotten that Dorothy used to like my lap. I wish I had held her when she died.)
