Chickens are amazing. I've started thinking of the hens at my house as people.

A few nights ago, I asked them, "What do you think, is it chilly enough to go to bed early?" And they immediately filed into the coop. True. And it was about thirty minutes before their usual bed time.
I have found that all animals are amazing, I know my horses know what I am saying, and they can let me know when they want something. Same with my cat 🤗

The hens have me very well trained, they even reward me for good behaviour hahaha 💖

Totally. See, normally late stage eggs getting abandoned isn’t a problem for me because I had a backup broody, and another, and another… or if someone was sitting on duds it would just be a matter of oh, look, a baby… must be yours…
I wondered if Jess would go broody again when I moved the babies into the coop...sure enough, she did. Found a whopping 2 eggs today. 1. Rest got added to Jess's nest (she was on 5: 3 brown, 2 white, after I took the fake out), can't tell as it's cooler and she's glued to the nest at the moment, and I'm not going to disturb her if I don't have to. 2. They're taking a day off (just had call from friend who has a friend who wanted 4 doz eggs last week, wants another 4 this week, just don't have them yet). 3. They're hiding them outside somewhere in an as yet undiscovered location: NOT the carport, doghouse (blocked it, Storm got back in laid 2 more, reblocked, now clear), cathouse, rocks laid on before, flower bed laid in before, under the low branched spruce tree laid in before, or under the olive trees or in the rose patch haven't laid in before. :he
:barnie :thI give up from the unplanned Easter egg hunt.
