Ya Missy used to you to my cousin's when I was out west working, on my week off I would bet ng her home.

It's amazing that in 2 weeks 3 little girls can teach my cat to beg for food at the table!!!! Wth! I would spend a week retraining her, send her back for my two week rotation then do it all over again! After 2 years doing this covid hit and Soni have been home working... This Missy has been relatively good. But them mum sneaks her food at the kitchen island... Wth!!! I give up....
Yeah, 2021 I gave in and just accepted my counter was no longer a food safe surface. At 19ish years old it was just too much and add in a crazy little goatling, I let the fur babies take the “high ground” of the kitchen.

So, hubby was gone for the weekend...came home a bit ago, exhausted. Laid down on top of bed petting dog. I got a chicken towel and the baby goslings.......'honey, snuggle with these guys, too'. Not right now (as he is half sleeping, scratching behind the dog's ears)

Well, I have a confession to make...blah, blah, blah...
He frowns....
I say, well, that is why I want you to bond with them...so they are good to you AND protect the chickens from hawks, too!

He mumbles something under his breath..

Two minutes later, he is gently caressing the gosling's neck, who promptly falls asleep against his finger. Slight grin on his face.
:wee:wee:wee

I did have to promise that if they got aggressive, they would become someones goose dinner......but that was pretty much a given in my mind anyways. Which is why I am trying extra hard to get them to bond to him...to insure that they don't become aggressive to him. (well, in as much as you can with animals, anyways!)View attachment 3109389View attachment 3109392View attachment 3109394
Awww so the jig is up? He no longer things you have small, large, and extra large ducks? 😂

I don’t want to jinx anything, but I am now obsessively watching got birthing videos and checking on the Goatlings every couple of hours. Someone has a bit of an udder developing… fingers crossed everyone, neither of us has done this before (cows are so easy to manage… oh look a calf)

So, @RoyalChick , it seems like no one else is going to guess at the goose/gander, so I shall reveal...........

you

are

a WINNER, WINNER...chi-----

oh, um....?ham dinner?

Yes, the lighter one is the boy, the darker one is the girl.
I never win anything so this makes me very happy.

:wee

Yes they are time thieves. But at the end of a hard day of chicken and horse chores even if you cannot see that you got anything done you know it was well spent. I must confess I would rather be outside doing hard manual labor with them in the hot sun, then inside house cleaning. I could get chores done a lot faster then I do. But who is going to spend ages scratching Dirt's itchy spot that ends up being a full body massage? Letting Russ turn me into a human lollipop with his licking habit. Louis always needs his ears rubbed or scratched. And the chickens? They demand coffee breaks every hour so they can hop up onto my lap or gather around my feet to say hello. House work, you have none of these distractions and it is so mundane.
Ha! You obviously don't have just as many animals inside as out like we do!

True. I just have 2 cats who disappear when the vacuum cleaner is brought out. The 2 dogs play dead in the way and you have to step over them until I kick them outside. I do currently have a house chicken, but she is a angry broody who screams if you speak to her so she does not count.

And your point being?? Those are necessary things to do
Well I got the stalls cleaned, water done, hay down, the window out and half-arse done (chicken wire and mosquito mesh up), sprayed weeds (we shall see if Scott's weed be gone works). But I didn't get the grass mowed ☹️.

I think I might take a few vacation days Thursday and Friday.... If it doesn't rain!

Good job then! Besides mowing the lawn, you need to wash the car! :old
