I'm so glad you found him a good home. Good luck young man. You get to grow up and have your own ladies. So, good news and bad news....
My adorable little Roo has found a new home. He will be leaving Sat with one of his sisters (for company) to go live with 8 loved hens who range in age from 18mos. to 4 years.
I felt that since he is so small (will be 7 weeks on Monday), that he still won't be full sized after quarantine, and he should also have company during that time....so he is going to have one of the BCM girls go with him.
I'm already sad, but I know that if I didn't give him away, he would be headed for freezer camp in the fall...... and he is such a good Roo (again, already!) that I just couldn't bear for him to have that fate.
Sorry, all I have is a side shot of this skinny little butt!View attachment 3133897
This picture at least has a BCM fluffy bottom in it.

If you can't find one, you might be able to adapt and old wire coat hanger?I don't think I've ever seen one of those! Great way to get the excess off the roller when you are finished!I'll have to look for one now!
(I still don't think it will prevent my extra drops or sags here or there, though)
I love all the chatter while they are getting their nightly 'lovings'I had the head lamp out with me tonight when I was putting everyone up. Here is just part of our nightly routine. I wonder why this group is some of the friendliest I've raised. I also know full well in the future I may regret turning them into always in your face chickens.
It's really very handy when using rollers.I don't think i have ever seen one od those (perhaps i haven't been looking) simple genius.
I'll get some tomorrow after work as they're already snoozing now.Pictures are required!![]()

I am not at all offended. Clearly I am NOT a biologistI meant no offense. I was trying to be humorous and educational. Clearly it landed a little flat. My apologies.
Anyone near you own a bird dog? They could find her quick.she is to scared of me for me to do this but i had tried
no i haven't seen her since 5 pm so hopefully i will find her tomorrow
I think that is a great idea. I frankly do not want to do much more than keep it operational. I'm trying to restore the nest box as I have not used the nest box in a very long time. I just put plywood over the opening. That's why I need a new lid and floor and I'm missing screws.Looks great Bob!
I bought a prefab similar to your's and it's held up ok but will need painting at some point. Maybe next year.
It bothers me that the built-in run of most prefabs doesn't extend out under the nest box. It would be a better design to bring another bit of ground into the prefab. A little more space for chicks or pullets.
Is that something you'd consider doing next time you're de-junking it?
I'm going to. And I'm going to wall it with ply to make it a rain-sheltered and sun-sheltered ground floor space. Chicks and pullets might like it for dust bathing.
