The cats are 21 months, so they are well past the kitten phase. They were raised as barn cats to hunt mice and were allowed in the house as pets only since this winter so they have a strong hunting instinct. There has never been any problem with the bantam, but once or twice I saw Grochatila look like he was hesitant about whether she was a bird.

I have now seen how the bantam mother reacts when the rooster comes near and it is clear she will defend them from anything and scream at the top of her lungs. This should be enough to make him hesitate and alert us. However I agree it's too early for an introduction, we'll wait till they have grown a bit.
If it was me I would make them aware by being close and letting them see you handling them but that's only imo and I have never had chick's

Is it just a need to lay? :fl

I do remember there was an issue with her previously, but I don't recall exactly. How old is she?:hugs:hugs:hugs

I am sure she will appreciate that spot you have picked out for her!❤️

Maybe later, when you are up to it, you can make her a headstone.( the self made 'stepping stone' things, but put a chicken foot-print in it or paint on it...with her name etched in the cement before it dries? Since she likes snakes so much, maybe you could buy a cheap plastic/rubber toy snake and put it upside down in the soft cement and press to get a snake imprint on the 'stepping-stone headstone? Or, alternatively, place it right side up & pushed in...to permanently be there to peck at when she has the inkling? Whatever you do, I think it might help with healing to 'commemorate her' with something permanent like that? Just a thought.:hugs:hugs❤️:hugs:hugs
She is 2. She turned 2 February 19th. Yes she has had laying problems since her first laying season when she had a monster double yolk egg get stuck. We are now dealing with a tumor that was found already softball size about 3 weeks ago. It is bigger and is now hindering her ability to walk, and due to the posture and stance she has developed overnight now causing her pain. Wednesday was when I first saw she was starting to decline. She spent most of the day resting. I attributed that to it was near 90 and humid and I was melting cleaning stalls. Yesterday no humidity and in the 70s, still resting a lot and she refused her favorite treat. Today it is clear it is time.

My old boy has picked up no end. The steps and getting up and down of my sofa is a slow process but he's back to yodelling when we go to the shop and is loving the rubs off all of his fans as we meet them ❤

This hepar sulf has worked like magic

Have you soaked her and is she pooing okay?

Agatha is still struggling but has enjoyed a strawberry today. I made her eat a little porridge with layers made with yogurt as well as electrolytes water.

She's been drinking on her own and has been outside twice today.
Again that hepar sulf has seemed to have removed a lot of the pain. I hope I haven't messed up by making her have verm-x this evening.

My old boy was being naughty this morning so I told him the behave and Agatha jumped out of her box and chased him out of the living room . So she must be improving 🤔
