Sometime's the temp in the summer here in AZ. can reach 118°F. That's why I'm working with the Naked Neck's now. They can handle that kind of heat better. Along with that heat if you aren't getting much rain everything dries out (tree's, bushes, long grass and weed's). That's when there is danger of fires starting, and why California and part's of Arizona get all of those fire's here too.

I thought of you when I was typing this. You deal with this all the time too. I remember telling my family and friends dry heart or not it's miserable. I remember the humidity got up to 11% as well. They could not cool the hotel. They gave out free ice cream around 3:00 every afternoon as an apology.

That's something. We have mountain lions around here but so few you never hear about them. It seems sad that they had to kill them but I get it. Crazy that they eating a person. How does that happen?

It was a hiker. They still have to examine the body. He could have died for some reason or other before the mountain lion's even got to him. People forget when they are out hiking that they are in the wild life's territory. Out here they get hiker's even during the hottest time of the year. They don't have enough water with them to keep themselves hydrated enough. Some will slip and fall. Every year they have to send out search parties for some of those hiker's. Some get lucky, but some not so lucky.

While I remember...
You were asking about my house a while ago LozzyR.
I posted a few pics of the build.

I love it! Even if it does look a little on the small side for us (need way more room for books as we all have an addiction issue... and a larger kitchen) I love the concept and looked at a lot of similar “alternative” building styles like straw bale and cob designs. But the building department here would have kittens... litters and litters of them! And I can’t imagine the paperwork. Even a composition toilet can take years of negotiations to get approved here :(

We get that in the mountains here but we don't have any big cats. There are usually one or two deaths here each year. We had a person who fancied themselves as keen runner visiting here a few years ago. He wanted to go running in August. Above 40C is common. They found him eventually flat out on top of a haystack completely delirious.
You can't fix stupid.

It would indeed be a little small for 'us'. Thankfully there is just me............and the chickens of course.:D

I agree, and you can warn those kind of people every year and tell them what they would need to take with them. They won't listen though, and think that they know better and thing's are just like they are back wherever it was where they came from. It make's you wonder if they are trying to earn a Darwin Award or something!

When we lived in Iceland, the Liaison explained to us that there were no safeguards built into popular tourist sites. For example, you can walk right out onto the rock shelf of Gulfoss. There is no rope or chain, not even a warning sign. From there you could slip off several hundred feet over the waterfall into the rocky river below. (That didn't stop my husband and many others from walking out there.) :barnie The Liaison said, the Icelander's response to people who go where they shouldn't, just because someone hasn't posted a sign or put up a rope is, "stupid tourist". That was a running joke for us while we were there.

If you look close you can see the people out on that rock. A quick google search will show a photo of someone who fell off!
