Tonight's Roosting

Phyllis has selected the inside roost as her's. She was there again tonight. Sansa was nested on the ground in the coop adress with Phyllis and Sydney was on the outside roost. It's going down to the 20s tonight so I wanted top closer them in the coop area so I had to move Sydney.

She was a flapper and fought the whole way. But in she went.

I have to say that I don't like handling them this much. I really want this to settle for a while. Starting tomorrow night the weather is going to be warm enough that they can roost wherever they want for a few nights. They need to settle into a routine.

This has given me the idea to add to the Big Coop roost for Phyllis. I may add a special section for her to use. I just need to think of how. 🤔
Given she has severely restricted vision above a roost above or away from the others may work.

Edit: Supposed to have been a reply to #6724... :he still don’t like change/software updates

You should re-post it under the new” transgender chicken” forum! Sorry, I read one today or yesterday, titled something like that, with this huge write up about this “rooster” that wasn’t like the OP’s previous roosters, with this gorgeous picture of a very clear pullet... not your “rooster” checking out those nest boxes isn’t “transgender” it is 100% a pullet getting ready to lay. :gigHow often is it that way and not the why is my hen acting so funny?

All seriousness though, I’m not that surprised about Lilly starting to try to crow. As you said Patsy did something similar, and she is a more mature hen. The chicken version of menopause it seems. Sounds odd, but I bet it beats hot flashes! (Sorry Bob for the TMI.) and yes, I saw it amongst all the Eagle digression, but had totally forgotten about that! Thanks for re-linking it!
There are some threads I find it is better to not even read.

I wish I could attribute some of what I read here on BYC to children but it seems not.

There are quite a lot of youngsters on here though. Some seems quite smart about their birds.
