Nolia, Punch and Hinge at the back.
Nolia has put on a bit of weight at last. Her legs and feet need doing again from the straw itch mite problem.

Lilly is Hurt

My poor Lilly is injured. This is when I wish I had a chicken vet. I would take her right now. :(

My first indication was that it seemed like she was holding court today. Right after I released them to free range this morning, Lilly went and sat in this spot for over an hour and yelled at everyone else as they came by.

I didn't think too much about it ast first and then I saw her doing it at other times of the day in other parts of the yard. She did walk around and scratch some.

That made my anxiety worse because this is how Patsy's decline started.

Just a short while ago I caught her standing like this on the deck and limping.

She has clearly injured her right leg somehow. Probably falling off the high roost. She is no spring chicken.

My wife did a full exam of her leg while I held her. There is no obvious wound and no specific sensitivity.

At this point I believe I will let her go and observe. Does anyone have any specific things for which I should look?

My guess is she has wrenched it somehow. I'm not sure what else to do at this point but watch her.

Oh no. Poor Lilly! I am 1,000 times less experienced than you but I did have a limping chicken who is now fine. Before the fox attack where I lost scary there was a fox attack that everyone survived. But only because they flew away (clever girls!). Maggie however had a hard landing (she is a big girl) and was limping quite badly and always stood like that. No obvious injury and I decided to watch and wait. And it took about 3 weeks but then she was back to normal. Fingers crossed for you and her that it is just a sprain.

I assume you will have checked her feet underneath for cuts and punctures.
If I have a limping chicken they come into the house and get confined in a pet carrier for a day or two so they rest the leg.
Some sprains you can feel at the hip if it has swollen up a bit. There is often a temperature difference between the two legs.
Metacam is very good for this. It relieves the pain and reduces the swelling.
I don't have any roosts higher than 300mm/hop up height.

Hope Lilly is better soon! It's one thing after another for you lately! So sorry to hear it!
