We can share the honour :)

Shared custody eh? Maybe we can have her for holidays if Bob will send her down

I've also noticed the chickens like to disrupt my roosting plans.

I wonder if it's warmer down there with no breeze around her ankles.

I've been thinking in the yet to be built big henhouse, i may provide a diverse range of roosts so hens can choose the roost that feels most comfy. Wide and narrow rectangular, wide and narrow round, and natural branches.
Love that idea about a variety of perches MJ.

I have plans to build a roosting coop without nesting boxes specifically for bed time.

My young hens are sleeping in the nesting boxes because Tsuki and Deana take both the roosts and won't let anybody else up! :rant

I figure if I make a nice long roosting coop with a variety of perches Tsuki can't possibly police them all (I hope)

New Ways to catch my Attention

I've written here about how patient Hattie is when I'm eating. Normally she quietly stands next to my chair staring at me until I give her some of what I'm eating. Well she tried something new today.

It was a sunny day today and it was almost warm enough to eat outside, so I did. That drew a crowd. I think Hattie was getting bumped too much so she found another place to wait she no one would bother her. Check it out.

She foisted under the table and waited. I could see her through the glass table top. It was weird putting my fork on top her head. :gig

So of course I rewarded this silly behavior with first dibs on my plate.

What a sweetheart. :love

She has the sweetest chicken cheeks!

Well, some worrying news from my neck of the woods.

Three people in the Blue Mountains have tested positive for Parrot Fever (Psittacosis). It is carried by the native parrots and pigeons and can be transmitted to people and chickens. It can be fatal to them.
The chicken symptoms include sneezing, runny eye and green poo. I don't know if people get the green poo... 🤔

The article I read says not to kiss your birds. How will we manage? 😭

Hmmmm Tsuki is thinking, "mama you know I love a challenge." :gig

Tell you what, I'll take Phyllis wine tasting. Where will you take her?

Oh no! Green poo is the new black at my place. They're foraging lots of new grass. I better watch out for sneezles and runny eye.
