The story is nearly done
Great day today with all 3 babies flying around in the garage and also into the trees outside. I think they have this flying thing nailed though they still like food delivery.
At bed-time Mom summoned them home to the nest.
But only two showed up. Unlike last night there was no baby crying in distress and Mom wasn't distressed either.
So I figure one of them was just ready to leave home. I assume the others will go over the next day or so.
I am sad to see them go, but they were beginning to get messy, so I am also happy to see them head off into the wild.

All any of us can do is try. A righteous person cares [even] about the life of his animals, but the compassion of wicked people is [nothing but] cruelty sums it up pretty well. :hugs
That is perfect. I should have known you would nail it for us.

Happy Friday! Geez, I thought we’d never get here! I will catch up on the thread this weekend, but have two things to share. First, I saved a woodpecker out of our Jacuzzi today. It’s an old Jacuzzi that is not functioning and has all kinds of larvae growing in it, so I think maybe that woodpecker was going for something in there. Anyway, it was weak and shivering, so I warmed it up in my hands and in the sun over warm rocks and eventually it went on its way. it feels good to save a life! And here’s the other thing. I’ve been letting the grass around the new chicken bath grow long so that they use it more, feeling more protected. I was sitting on a rock right beside some of them bathing and got lucky enough To capture this cute video.

I suspect the answer is ‘yes’, but for those of you who have had chooks go through a hard moult, do they not seem themselves? It’s cold and wet this morning and Charlie seems off her game.
Patsy always melted hard. She tried but you could tell she was off her game. Hattie had a bit of a harder molt last year but nothing like poor Patsy.
