Day 3: On the Nest

Everything seems to have gone well while we were gone. I did see this happen while we were gone.

I found Sidney like this when we got home.

I could not hear anything fron the eggs but she was tuk, tuk, tuk.

I do think Lilly laid today. There were 4 eggs and nothing Phyllis. One of the eggs was incomplete. Probably Lilly but I'm not sure. It was in the box she was in.

Waiting for Sydney’s babies with baited breath! :fl

Tack has finally found her place on a roost bar in Tribe 2's coop. This will hopefully make her more inclined to not go up a tree at night. It's also great because the nest boxes will stay clean.
Knock is having a coop tour in her broody desperation. I've taken two lots of eggs away so far. This is a complete pain because having eggs in the coops encourages the others to lay in them rather than outside.
Treacle was okay after his sick bout but not quite the full ticket. I gave him another flush out with water and then cold coconut oil. His crop is working okay and tonight he went to roost with it noticeably fuller than yesterday.
I'm going to have to make some nest box alterations. I've got two with Itch Mite rash from the straw now. I'm inclined to put plain earth in and some recently cut grass. One set of nest boxes will need reinforcing for this.

I’m glad Treacle and the tribes have you to look after them. :hugs

@MaryJanet - we need an interpreter. What is she saying to the eggs?!
Ah! I'll check beakbook...

She's saying, "now, children, listen to mama please. When you come out, you must never run while holding scissors. Got that? Good. Here's another lesson, never put a knife into a power socket. What's that? No, I'm not sure what one is either, but I know it's a safety rule. Also, purple corn tastes best. And no smart phones til you're mature enough to know right from wrong and your own boundaries. Now shush please, mama needs a nap."

They're lovely Royal Chick and you've got some great shots. :love
Thanks! Needless to say I am wasting loads of time just hanging out with them. And then I do the same with the big ladies because I don't want them to get jealous. So there has been a lot of chicken time this weekend. :love :love

They are so gorgeous! :love Do you know for certain if they are girls?
I hope so because I cannot keep a roo and it would break my heart to have to dispose of one. In theory they would have a yellow dot on their head if they were male, but I guess I won't know until they start laying. Or maybe you folk can help me be certain earlier once they feather out a bit. Bit nervous about that but optimistic.
