It is a special thing. I am glad that he wants to be with you. You are very lucky to have that relationship with him. :love
I believe it was fate, that brought Jaffar and myself together. ronott1 suggested I look on craigs list, for roosters locally. And found Jaffar only 3 miles from my home. He came from a fighting roo ranch, :rantSo, we kinda saved each other, didn't we?

You sure did. Good for you. :thumbsup

How is she doing today?
Hi Bob. Roxy is actually doing relatively well. It was easy to get the clavamox in her. She ate a bit if baby bird food with the barium sulfate and ate regular feed. I’ll try again later with the barium sulfate. She didn’t touch the liver snack. She did do one gassy poop while she was with me... the poop was not at all black! The urates were pretty yellow, however. I think her coloring might be slightly better and she's talking. Fingers crossed. I’m amazed at the possibility that the barium sulfate might be helping. It’s meant to be a contrast agent and I can’t find an article showing it prescribed to coat and sooth the GI tract lining. If it’s going to help, though, I’m happy. She does seem to be more comfortable.
Dorothy was spry when I let them out this morning but is not so great now. She’s going to get some baby bird food with calcium in it.

Yes. The beak is an extremely sensitive organ. It is not as some would have us believe primarily made up of dead keratin. In the second link they explain a bit about how the beak is made up and the tiny receptors that are in it, particularly the lower beak.
Some of the links in the first article are well worth reading.

I definitely will go back and read these. I am well aware of beak sensitivity, but always love scientific articles!
