Oh I am so sorry WhoDat. From memory you thought they were going to a nice home so maybe you can take consolation from that. Can you go visit them to see them all happy in their new home? Would that help maybe? :hugs :hugs
Thanks RC.. yes, I will be going to this friends place from time to time.. but I honestly don’t think I’d be able to go look at them 😔 .... perhaps as time goes on I will feel better about this... and yes, they are in a very good place.

He's been around for the 3 summers we've lived here. He lives in my front flowerbed where I plant my tomatoes and he hangs around the front door eating bugs.

Hi yall... I haven’t been here in a while because I bit the bullet and rehomed my bantams 😔 and I couldn’t bare to be here and talk chicken... had I realized what a devastating blow this was going to be I may have not done it... but as time has gone on I am coming to terms with it.. I had to keep reminding myself that I was ultimately doing them a favor.. in the long run. I must admit that the first few days I was torn apart with “abandonment issues”... and oh, how I miss seeing them in my flock 😢.... I even considered going back to get them but I knew that if I did and they became broody again then that would be even worse... I am broken hearted as I didn’t realize until now how much I loved them and that they were my favorites.
I was afraid you might regret it. I'm sorry this has caused you pain. :hugs :hugs I wish I could make it better for you my friend. Keep reminding yourself that you did what was best for them and start to focus on the flock you have. There is joy hidden in there as well.

You have been missed greatly and I was so excited to see you post again. I was just about to private message you to see what was up. I'm glad to have you back.

It was another unbearably hot day today and I made ice-cream for the chickens. It was surprisingly successful.
I put little scraps of tomato and cucumber (all kitchen scraps) and put them in a plastic pot and topped up with whey (left over from home made Kefir). Kefir whey doesn't have much if any lactose and is full of protein and it freezes with a consistency closer to ice-cream than straight ice.
The chickens had a great time chipping off bits of frozen whey to get to the frozen treats inside.
I like to think it cooled them down a bit in the heat of the day.
That's brilliant. Good for you.

Jaffar update: Got his crow on! But now I have to keep him inside the house. That nasty neighbor is throwing treats into my yard to attract and tease (scare) my helpless little roo!
What is the matter with that psycho woman anyways? (I took pics, to show the Sheriff):hit
Am I understanding this correctly? She is luring him to the fence with treats and then scaring him? If that is correct then while I don't know her, that is a cruelty streak that concerns me. 😰

I am hurting along with you. :hugs :hugs

That is so cool. I love the other animals that choose to live with us! :love
