Well you can hardly blame her Bob. Last time she did that, fertile eggs magically appeared. Who is to say that it won't happen again? :fl

I don't suppose you know anyone who is trying to hatch using an incubator? You could offer Sydney's services, kind of like a nanny.
Sadly I know of no one nearby with an incubator hatch going on. I'm going to keep taking the eggs hopefully she will give up. If not, I still have the crate. I just don't want to use it if I don't have to.

I went to lock up the girls last night but Alice and Edwina were roosting outside on the dead Grevillea.

Someone was repelling all boarders.

Would you like another hen ByBob? :he
I have many mean hens. She would fit right in. 😆 Sometimes I wonder what makes them behave like that. I've seen Lilly do the same.

Those pictures are hysterical. :gig:lau:gig:lau

Those who are late must sleep outside. Mine have gathered on the porch many times waiting for Lilly to go to bed. I have even picked up Lilly and held her while the others go to bed because as I told her, she was being crazy.

How to get a Broody off an Empty Nest?

Sydney was still on the nest this morning when everyone else was out running around being chickens. I was checking on her on the camera when Mrs BY Bob opened the back door. The screen on the back door squeaks a little when you open it. As soon as she heard the sound of the back door, Sydney bolted from the nest and headed to the back door expecting treats. Mrs BY Bob did not disappoint. While Sydney is tuk tukking around, she has not gone back to the nest yet.

A while back when I was without power for 5 days I mentioned how the live wire had turned the dirt to glass.
@BY Bob I think you said you were interested in seeing it. Of course I forgot but was in that area just now ‘cos another branch came down so I took some pics.
A bit difficult to show properly but I took some shots of the whole scorched area and some close-ups of the edges of the hole that the wire punched through the dirt and then I broke off some of the glass bits. Here goes (sorry if boring and not chicken related):

This is absolutely fascinating. Wow! I was hoping for these but did not want to pester you. Are you planning to save those pieces of glass-like material? There has to be some decorative use for them. Fish tank, or vase, or something. Those are amazing!

I think I will go out and get some more pieces - especially the round 'bubbly' ones and put a handful of them in a glass bowl to display them.
The electric utility guy told me they are really glass (not 'glass-like'). Apparently the way you make glass is by applying great heat to sand and the only difference here is there are a lot of other impurities (aka mud!).
They certainly feel like glass, it sounds like glass when you tap them, and if you break off a spiny bit it breaks like glass and is sharp.
Definitely in the weird and wonderful category and sort of a miracle the nearby shrubbery didn't burst into flames.
