Looking at that line up glowering at you from the bushes Bob I'm not sure I've done you any favours.
Seriously Bob, no thanks are necessary. She's not out of the woods yet. If and when she lays another egg that's the time to breath a sigh of relief. I'm just pleased she's apparently feeling better.
You're welcome anytime Bob if I can help.

Sorry, I’m not trying to hog the thread today. But this is too darn cute not to share. I let the chicks run around while I left the room to brush my teeth. I came back and found this. Apparently the dog bed is pretty comfy.

Do you always add pullets in trios? Every year?

I do 😁... last year I did three separate groups of three and this year I did two separate groups of three.... and now I have 18 chickens!
Sorry, I know you didn’t ask me... but I’m bored
How big do you want the flock to be? I'm thinking 10-12 hens is ample. Any more than that and I'd run out of space.

Well... I am realizing that if I want enough eggs to give away I need more hens! I have 12 layers at the moment and for the last month or so I’m only getting 5 eggs a day! Well, we eat six eggs a day soooooo..... I’m thinking somewhere around 20... but I don’t know cuz my two year olds have already slowed down so I don’t know how to get this to work without winding up with a lot more than twenty... being as how they start to slow after year one 🤷‍♀️ .... I might only have enough to give away at certain times.. when I’m getting plenty. I’d like to give eggs to the firefighters at the stations... since they live there part time...

No. First year was four. Second year was six. Third year was four, but I lost one at two weeks. Went three this year just in case something happened... would be tough to integrate a solo pullet. I’m impressed you noticed I had three two years in a row!

Oh, I didn't notice that. Sorry. I only noticed the three who were snoozing yesterday.

I know we are not all the way there yet. I keep waiting for an egg but she has shown no interest in the nest boxes at all. I hope we are good.
