So this is totally not chicken related, but I wanted to share… I’m seriously considering getting some hot wires. I planted my tomatoes really late and they are starting to turn color, which is very exciting! A lot of love, patience and care has gone into this project, which is my first real veggie garden. Well, the last two nights, rats ravaged the garden and started gnawing on my first ripe tomatoes! I’m so disappointed! I need to figure out how to get on top of the situation.

Bob, I forgot to mention… That is such a cute car. Cute is probably not the word you want to hear, but… Anyway, what is the story behind it?

I am not a car buff by any means. As long as it functions and gets me from point A to point B, I’m happy. My brother, on the other hand, is fanatical about making custom engine parts and tweaking things for performance.

OMG. Really? No, I did not know that. I WANT ONE!

I don't know much - I found a website for a non-profit called the livestock conservancy. https://livestockconservancy.org/index.php/heritage/internal/conservation-priority-list#Chickens
One of the definitions is that the breed be from before the middle of the last century and be slow growing and live a long productive outdoor life - which sounds like what I would wish for all chickens!
They had a long list of breeds and one of them was 'Leghorn - non industrial'

The picture of the chicken wasn't white so I am not sure what that is about.
Finding these heritage chickens for sale at least near me doesn't seem so easy. And something in the very deep recesses of my aging brain tells me that @rjohns39 does something with livestock conservancy so I am hoping he can enlighten us!

Oh that is so frustrating! I lost my entire peach crop this year which I am really sad about.

I know "Exchequer" is one of the leghorn colours. Maybe there are many other colours too.

I’m vaguely familiar with the livestock Conservancy. Apparently that’s where I’m supposed to look if I want to find a reputable breeder. There are very few reputable breeders of any breeds here in California, I believe.
