@Shadrach is there some sort of fast growing vine that you could plant to provide some cover? Or perhaps cover it over with some fencing and weave something obnoxious looking through it. If only the chickens weren’t wont to peck at everything, I’d suggest ugly fake plants. If those are a cedar I think they may have been trimmed back hard enough to kill them. I’m thinking you could use some of our nasty feral rose hips being shipped out to you. Nice scent, not much for flowers, but all sorts of nasty thorny business. My chickens love them.
I thought they were blackthorn. I do like the idea of something prickly.

I have had a pretty horrible day, Two flat tires on the car, and couldn’t get my laundry done in town. My washing machine is waiting for a new timer. So I thought I would drop another mugshot Monday pic 93395175-80CD-4A36-B488-CA32415291F6.jpeg

Never good when you have those sorts of vehicle issues, and no laundry either! :hugs But she’s a beautiful hen... and if you can’t get to the laundromat then there’s more time for the chickens!

People do vile things and it is more than tough going when you are on the receiving end of it. :hugs Is there no one sympathetic in that house?
To rectify it for the chickens you could set up some posts where the hedge used to grow. Attach material like pieces of canvas horizontally like shade tarps between them, maybe like several tomato shades set higher up. Preferably something really ugly maybe? I recall there had been some fencing in use that was taken down. 😎 Got that lying around to lay over?
Unfortunately the land is not mine. My plot is tiny. What you see ouside my house before the fence basically and that is what is described in the UK as leashold. When I die, it goes back to the estate.
It's one of those 'family' arrangements.

Yup... family, can’t live with them, can’t shoot em! Well you’re not “supposed” to anyway ;) that’s my motto/mantra more often than not :hugswere those your blackthorns? Grrrr.

I don’t believe they have the nerve to actively harm the birds... I know I wouldn’t. Even if I was capable of harming an innocent animal to get back at its owner, I wouldn’t mess with @Shadrach , as he said, Covid is pushing people closer to edges it’s best not to get too near. We are seeing this very visibly even on our little island “paradise” especially the community Facebook forum. I simply don’t think the Big House people would be willing to dirty their hands with it either, too much actual work. Cut down all the cover and let the Goshawks have a clear shot at the birds, sure.
You've pretty much got it Kris.
I don't think she will harm the chickens. She was sly and manipulative as a child and with the drinking and the bitterness she has just got worse.
It's another day tomorrow. All the chickens are safe. They know that hedge row is no longer a safe place and they will adapt.
The problem I have is this sort of poisonous crap is infectious. I came here to get away from stuff like this. I'm content with not much and being Bucket Boy. I do not want to become like the other people who live here.

I'm sorry Alex. You do have beautiful chickens though.
