You've pretty much got it Kris.
I don't think she will harm the chickens. She was sly and manipulative as a child and with the drinking and the bitterness she has just got worse.
It's another day tomorrow. All the chickens are safe. They know that hedge row is no longer a safe place and they will adapt.
The problem I have is this sort of poisonous crap is infectious. I came here to get away from stuff like this. I'm content with not much and being Bucket Boy. I do not want to become like the other people who live here.

Chicken tax plus.
This is Tap. I think she's watched everyone else moult and thought, I'll have a go at that. She's left it rather late and is discovering that it isn't such a great idea after all.
I felt so bad for her the night before last when it froze I brought her into the house for the night.

Well I think that you're way ahead of things already by your awareness of the situation. That and your compassion can help you. There's a lot of apparent pain in those people, it sounds like a slow motion crash happening. It's hard to be around, especially when you get onto their radar and they decide to spread the pain. I'm sorry you're having to deal with it!

I am not sure what I am looking at (and I am not sure I want to!) but given they were cleaning cat fish the fish ate a rat? Looks like a small dog actually. Yuk!

Oh, I doubt there is much of a chance of you becoming like those other “people”. I think there is far more reward in being Bucket Boy/Girl to such beautiful creatures, and that they will help you keep that bitterness from sinking in. Plants will re-grow with time.
