Awwww sweet hens.

They stared at us through the back door for over an hour! Mrs BY Bob kept giving them food. I said if you keep feeding them they will never leave! She had not seen them since the snow storm and was excited to have their company even if it was through the door.

Where on Earth was it?

It is all a bit odd. The US Postal Service do not deliver to my address - I guess as is common in rural areas we all have PO Boxes.
UPS, FedEx etc. all deliver just fine, but won't deliver to a PO Box address, so I use my physical address for them.
But you can't always tell what postal method is going to be used by the person shipping, so I tend to put my physical address and hope for the best.
All of which would be fine if my physical address were in the same town/ZIP as my PO Box, because the Postal Service would likely just drop it off at the Post Office who would figure it out from there. But of course why would my life be so simple? In fact I live in one town and have my PO Box in the other (I live half way between the two Post Offices and I think the boundary line changed or something).
So, I drove to first one Post Office and then the other and between them they found it.

My tax payment is in the mail (couldn't resist!).

It is actually much colder tonight than it was during the day, because it was fairly clear... and the slush has melted down to a reasonable 3-6” in most places with a crunchy hard crust.View attachment 2460560
Sammy is still not sold on this whole Cold White Stuff, but followed some brave young pullets all the way to my trailer! I think he may have been enjoying the camouflage though!View attachment 2460564Where the snow had compacted and frozen into a thin sheet of ice, several of the gils were slipping and sliding all over it. Watching them explore was very entertaining. I had to rescue several ladies that flew to the wrong side of a fence and found themselves “trapped” by the white stuff there including this little lady, who was ten feet from the open gate but needed a lift to get back to her flock. I love the red in her hackles and she loved perching on the warm arm instead of the S**wView attachment 2460565

I need to show these pictures to my crew who were perfectly happy to just stay in the house for a whole week. Cowards.
