On occasion, I will give the birds a can of tuna. (Talk about fishy beak breath) Wow!

That is identical to my situation here except there is no way a courier will deliver to the house. Everything goes to one post office or the other. It is all a bit odd. The US Postal Service do not deliver to my address - I guess as is common in rural areas we all have PO Boxes.
UPS, FedEx etc. all deliver just fine, but won't deliver to a PO Box address, so I use my physical address for them.
But you can't always tell what postal method is going to be used by the person shipping, so I tend to put my physical address and hope for the best.
All of which would be fine if my physical address were in the same town/ZIP as my PO Box, because the Postal Service would likely just drop it off at the Post Office who would figure it out from there. But of course why would my life be so simple? In fact I live in one town and have my PO Box in the other (I live half way between the two Post Offices and I think the boundary line changed or something).
So, I drove to first one Post Office and then the other and between them they found it.
My tax payment is in the mail (couldn't resist!).
I clean up and move on to the next bit of cleaning up.Well she explored the bathroom today while I was gone getting breakfast for me, so much for not wanting to venture out!And pooped here and there of course. So do people just clean it up and move on (I wanted to launder those throw rugs anyway), or use those chicken diaper things? I got her a bucket of leaves and pine woods needles and chips from the stash I've been saving for the winter, hoping to maintain some interest in the brooder. Maybe I can take her outside today for supervised free range? I fear she will run to the Buckeye area as soon as she sees them, as we have such deep snow everywhere only that and the driveway next to it is clear!
I'm sorry your shopping trip was such a bust. The hustle and bustle and excitement in the air can be fun. It will be again.Shopping Trip
So we have this tradition that every year a couple of days before Christmas we go to the world's largest (or second largest) indoor mall down by Philadelphia to try and find something unusual for each other. We usually head down during the day and come back late at night. So yesterday was that day so we grabbed our masks and headed out.
We don't normally buy much but for me the treasure hunt is fun. I love to be in the bustle of the crowded mall. It really makes me feel the holiday for some reason. I get a fancy coffee and we end the trip with a fancy meal at a big city restaurant.
Looking back now, we should have just not gone this year. It's 3 hours round trip and even before we left we knew there would not be any indoor dining to end the day. However there is just this attitude right now that COVID is not going to take our holiday traditions from us.
What did we find when we got there?
Needless to say the 3 hour round trip was a complete bust. We bought nothing. We had some fast food hamburgers and came home empty handed.
- No people. There was no one there. Which was probably good for Covid spread but no hustle and bustle
- Half of the stores were simply closed. Many that were open closed early.
- Lines to get in the stores that were open.
- It was uncomfortable to browse. It seemed like the attitude was go in, get your stuff, leave.
- Some stores would only let you in to pick up stuff. They expected you to stand in front of the store. Go online and buy your item with store pick up. Then you could enter the store to pick it up.
- No help. On the rare occasion you found something in a case that you wanted to see, there were no store clerks available to help you.
How is poor BY Bob's sad shopping trip related to chickens. Well everyone knows about the adventures at roosting time around here. I was not home to assure that everyone roosted in the coop. So when I check the camera what do I not see. Phyllis.

I see Sansa next to Hattie, that's new, but no Phyllis. It's like she lives to torture me. Then I realize there are 2 black tails up on the high roost. Why does she do this to me? Why Phyllis, WHY!

I have been issued instructions I am to wear thongs in the house after the man has mopped our floors. apparently my feet are dirtier than my outdoor footwear!I clean up and move on to the next bit of cleaning up.
Because the floor here is concrete I can lift the poop with some toilet roll and then mop with oxine or bleach. At the end of the day I do the whole floor if the chickens have been in. I wear my outside shoes in the house so I'm not much better than the chickens.
Roosters really do have it rough. They have my utmost respect. Crazy ladies forcing Sammy to do what he does not want to do. I can just see the disgust on his face. Poor fella.Oh, it was the new girls that started it... flew out the door and went from there! It was like how kids enjoy playing out in the snow. Sammy looked miserable most of the day. “I must guard my ladies and be with them... but my toes are cold! I’m cold! Why are they out here??? She put the feed in the coop, what is wrong with these girls?”
Sadly, I did not get film of how the roosting developed last night. I will say that when Phyllis roosts first, that high roost is where she goes. The others usually force her to leave. Somehow she held onto Sansa's spot last night.Phyllis is definitely a floater when it comes to roosting. Maybe Aurora has forced her to resort to this strategy - so when you're not around Phyllis employs it to avoid any problem with Aurora, or Aurora WAS hassling her and she ended up there. Do you have any film of roosting time?
All sorts of roosters it seems. My mother, who is in her 80s, was dragged to the mall by my OD & couldn't find a seat anywhere to sit & wait. They were all occupied by newspaper reading gentlemen who were waiting on their shopping wives.Roosters really do have it rough. They have my utmost respect. Crazy ladies forcing Sammy to do what he does not want to do. I can just see the disgust on his face. Poor fella.
When is the last time they had mouse steak? They may be craving red meat!Yes indeed! Both of them have mouse trophies notched on their roost-post (if you see what I mean) so they are definitely hunters.
Note to self: do not fall over in the Chicken Palace.![]()
