I am liking her chances of being healthy. Have you found any others yet? Remember, if you acquire any additional hens they are going to have to go through the same quarantine as her.Well that's a refined hen for sure!.
Queenie's been with me since last Wednesday, counting in the dog crate in the car overnight. So at least to next Wednesday for it to be two weeks. Temperature - she is loving it at 45-52F. Very quick moves as she hunted and scratched at the new pile. I'm okay with it as most of the day I'm in outside clothes going in and out all day anyway. She's perching on the brooder edge taking a short nap right now.
There is a lot spaghetti eating here. My hens love Italian food!Possibly spaghetti!
I don't have to imagine,Can you just imagine (Italian beak breath)?![]()
Thanks, I know it will be. Just another 2020 disappointment. We should have know better.I'm sorry your shopping trip was such a bust. The hustle and bustle and excitement in the air can be fun. It will be again.
Shopping Trip
So we have this tradition that every year a couple of days before Christmas we go to the world's largest (or second largest) indoor mall down by Philadelphia to try and find something unusual for each other. We usually head down during the day and come back late at night. So yesterday was that day so we grabbed our masks and headed out.
We don't normally buy much but for me the treasure hunt is fun. I love to be in the bustle of the crowded mall. It really makes me feel the holiday for some reason. I get a fancy coffee and we end the trip with a fancy meal at a big city restaurant.
Looking back now, we should have just not gone this year. It's 3 hours round trip and even before we left we knew there would not be any indoor dining to end the day. However there is just this attitude right now that COVID is not going to take our holiday traditions from us.
What did we find when we got there?
Needless to say the 3 hour round trip was a complete bust. We bought nothing. We had some fast food hamburgers and came home empty handed.
- No people. There was no one there. Which was probably good for Covid spread but no hustle and bustle
- Half of the stores were simply closed. Many that were open closed early.
- Lines to get in the stores that were open.
- It was uncomfortable to browse. It seemed like the attitude was go in, get your stuff, leave.
- Some stores would only let you in to pick up stuff. They expected you to stand in front of the store. Go online and buy your item with store pick up. Then you could enter the store to pick it up.
- No help. On the rare occasion you found something in a case that you wanted to see, there were no store clerks available to help you.
How is poor BY Bob's sad shopping trip related to chickens. Well everyone knows about the adventures at roosting time around here. I was not home to assure that everyone roosted in the coop. So when I check the camera what do I not see. Phyllis.

I see Sansa next to Hattie, that's new, but no Phyllis. It's like she lives to torture me. Then I realize there are 2 black tails up on the high roost. Why does she do this to me? Why Phyllis, WHY!

That sounds completely miserable. And I say that as someone who finds shopping trips miserable at the best of times - but to be all excited about a day's outing and be disappointed is miserable.Shopping Trip
