Thanks for asking, Bob. Ester is doing GREAT. However, she is still inside for heat and feedings. She's feathering in nicely, but her feathers aren't long enough yet to form that thermal layer. She is eating a few things now, but is not drinking much, if at all and her comb is still a bit flopped. Saturday she looked a bit hypothermic (doing that weird squat walk) when having an outside excursion. Sunday was a bit warmer. She also had a little time outside, but when the flock would not let her dustbathe, she walked right up to me and asked to go back in (by looking me in the eye and squatting at my feet.)

Once she is eating, drinking and warming herself on her own, I will transition her back outside. I tried dropping the temp inside the last couple days, but came home to find her with cold feet and comb. She is definitely perkier when she is hydrated and warm. I had hoped not to have her separated for very long, but she is a low-ranked hen and thin to begin with, which is why I think she has taken this molt so hard. The power (and internet) will be out at work tomorrow, so I think I'll be working from home. If it's warm out, I might try letting her have a visit outside for a bit.

She has gained almost 10% of her body weight since I’ve been tubing her.

Here she is outside on Saturday:
(Too funny... on my end, the still shot of the video is Ester evacuating a liquid poop).

And here she is inside yesterday:
Thanks for the update. All things considered, she is looking good!

Cillin is sick. He had a mild case of bumble foot a few months ago which Gloria treated. He's got another one now and it's infected. His pad is terribly swollen.
He's at the vets 6.30pm tomorrow.
It's amjor problem if he's sick. He ran away from Treacle this evening. Yesterday Treacle didn't challenge him. I think Gloria will have to operate and that means Cillin will have to be confined for a while and Treacle will be the boss. When Cillin returns there will be problems. Not at all happy about this.
Cillin has been as good as gold. I managed to get him out of the bamboo. It took a while. He's in with me for the night and has put up with lots of handling and inspections.:love
I know I post a lot of pictures of Treacle but Cillin has a place very deep in my heart.

Aww, Cillin! Get better, buddy!

Ok guys I'm in trouble. I just discovered Lavender Marans. Well actually Rosie did and showed them to me. Not only that she'd looked up places to get them before bringing them to my attention and even found a place in Tennessee that has them. Guess what she wants for her birthday now. Going to have to think long and hard on this one.
This is a bad group to expect to talk you down from adding more chickens. They are enablers all the way. Late last year I had a chance to get some Frost Legbars and this whole group was DO IT! DO IT! DO IT!

That having been said. Lavender hens are simply beautiful. Or so Hattie says.

Woooohoooo! I hope it was worth it! 🥂🍾🎉🎊

Now you know all the inside jokes too. 😁

Its stunning how much change my flock tribe has gone through in 2 years, isn't it?

Oh no, no Mal now 🥺 not up to that yet but already I’m sad in anticipation...

Lavender is a pretty color I wont argue with that. Rosie has been wanting a Lavender colored chicken ever since about this time last year when I got the original Marans. Because remember their breeder also at the time was breeding Lavender Ameracauna's and when I picked mine up had a chick hatch with splayed toes that he gave me to try n save. It became clear early on that there was more wrong with "Spacey" then just splayed toes as she failed to thrive and died on me after about 7 days. I think i'm stuck into getting a couple. When she talked to me last night it first started out about how for over a year now she'd maintained a 4.0 up from her previous years of 3.7. Thankfully math has finally clicked, especially this year when she has 2 math classes. Then that was followed up by the kicker, her agreeing to rehome Toothless this past fall. Somehow I think i'm going to have to find room for the *3* chickens she wants. I'm not even going to go into how expensive they are, I'd be better off if she wanted a new saddle.

Not good... especially the swelling. This sounds like an earlier catch of what I’m going through with Roostie. If you could share pictures and your Dr’s treatment plan I would greatly appreciate it. I am guessing that Dr Gloria isn’t as pricy as the place I ended up in on Monday? Dean’s recent bumble was less troublesome but seems to be possibly returning. Thinking Positive Thoughts for Cillin and you Shad. I am so glad you have a good vet. Cillin is the #1 Rooster in his tribe, correct? Roostie has been fleeing from Sammy and Dean, when normally he would stand his ground, but hasn’t lost any ladies over the injury.

I'll try to remember to take the camera. I don't want to disturb him now although it would be early repayment for when he disturbs me in the morning.:he:lol:
Yep, he's yer top man. All Tribe 1 apart from Fat Bird are his doing. He and Ruffles saved the tribe from dying out. Luckily Ruffles liked her men. If it had been up to Fat Bird she would be the only one left now.

It’s my daughter’s birthday today. (This allows you to get them today) :D
