Wow! I try to put out multiple bowls to make certain that Sydney and Phyllis get their share. With treats I try to at least split them in 3s so the ladies pair up and eat together and everyone gets some.
I have been copying the 'breakfast bar' idea - I have two logs and I spread food out on those. As long as nobody stands in the middle of the log (I am looking at you Diana!), then everyone can get at the food from one side or the other and it divides the group into two. I might deploy a third log to make sure everyone has access.

I like that - in 3's from now on, for sure!
What you will love about this is they don't stay with just one, they will move around. Its hysterical as they move in sequence. Try to picture this. 3 bowls, 6 hens. They start out like this.

Bowl 1, Hattie and Lilly
Bowl 2, Aurora and Sansa
Bowl 3, Sydney and Phyllis

Aurora decides to move and goes to Bowl 3. Sydney leaves 3 when Aurora arrives and goes to Bowl 1. Lilly realizes that she is not eating with Sansa and joins her at Bowl 2. We now have....

Bowl 1 Hattie and Sydney
Bowl 2 Sansa and Lilly
Bowl 3 Phyllis and Aurora

Now Phyllis is heads down when she is eating and for whatever reason she always winds up tickling Aurora's butt with her head feathers. Disgusted Aurora leaves to join Hattie at Bowl 1. Sansa and Lilly decide they need to see what's in Bowl 3 and both move there. When Sansa arrives she pecks Phyllis and Phyllis starts to wander aimlessly. When Aurora arrives at Bowl 1 Sydney leaves and goes to the empty Bowl 2. Eventually Phyllis identifies Sydney and joins her at Bowl 2. We now have.

Bowl 1 Hattie and Aurora
Bowl 2 Sydney and Phyllis
Bowl 3 Sansa and Lilly

This actually happened on Saturday. It's nuts but it works. Everyone got some.

Go figure.

Lilly stood on a pile of mealy worms the other day so no one could eat any. Phyllis also moved in and tickled her belly until she moved. 🤣

So glad to have my work week over. It has been pouring rain all day. Came home to a very local power outage :/ seems to just be part of our neighborhood, been about an hour and a half now. Utility trucks are around trying to sort it, hopefully soon. There is one family member I haven't introduced yet that doesn't like to get cold! IMG_20190410_124601.jpg this is my iguana miss Ruca, she is 13 (12 in this photo)

I might need two breakfast logs, Hazel is like your Diana - she stands right on it in the middle, and just swivels around eating from one end to the other!

I've noticed this too, seems to be a general chicken strategy & goes well with backing up to see what they've scratched. But like Phyllis' move, it doesn't deter other's beaks coming in low at 3 o'clock... :lau
