It was their main tool along with Bactine (that stuff burned so bad)!
Thank you for validating my childhood traumas... yes it did burn! “You’re imagining it, it doesn’t hurt! Now hold still...” an aside... DH managed to get the lidocaine but still no chlorhexadine... and my other favorite BluKote spray has also been discontinued.

Sad News I'm afraid.
The vet looked her over and said her condition appears neurological
. Could be Marek's Disease (her neck was weak and her head was pointing back), a spinal injury, poisoning or a number of other things none of which can be realistically treated :hit. I asked the vet to euthanase her. 😢

I gave her a quick once over when I looked at her this morning @micstrachan . She felt heavy to me. I couldn't feel her crop, her vent was a bit pink with some poo on the feathers. Her last egg was in around March last year I think. She was in the middle of a light moult. The vet said that her breast muscles were atrophied which I hadn't noticed so she has probably been sick for a while.

The only odd behaviour I had noticed in the last few weeks was that she preferred to roost on the floor instead of on the perch. She roosted on the high perch the night before last so...who knows?

I'm sorry it is such sudden bad news.

I'm sitting in the study looking out the window. Deana is perched on the back of the garden bench alone. 😭

Thank you for your kind thoughts everyone.❤
I'm so sorry ACM. Such a hard decision.

Farewell Tsuki. You were loved in life and death. Tell Sandy we think of her every day.

Hi all! I’ve been away from the board for awhile. I’m back and reading some of my favorite random threads. :caf But I can’t find Kristen’s. I’ve been wondering how she is doing and what’s new with her house and fil. Any news? Can someone link me?

Hi, Bob! That greeting has started many of my days, too!
@Kris5902 is primarily posting here these days. She has dropped her thread I believe. She now has a baby goat the sleeps with her and Andrew in the trailer. The house is partially built but because of COVID all the permits expired and they had to stop work. Her best rooster, Roostie, has an infected foot and she is contemplating doing foot surgery.

I think that covers it in summary. Kris will add what I have missed.
Yes, the thread is still up, but I don’t really post in it anymore... I should probably get back to updating it eventually. I just live here at Bob’s thread for the most part now! He summed up most of the important stuff perfectly. FIL passed away last year, after a short and sudden struggle with cancer. There has been some additional Family Drama with the Aunt-in-Laws. Andrew is now “officially” a part owner of the property so we can’t be evicted (a small funny aside FIL was actually threatening to leave his share of the property to his friends in Cuba, but a lawyer talked him out of it!). And every time I’m about ready to throw in the towel and go back to the city... something comes up. FIL’s Hunter friends show up and get our house partially up, or I find an orphaned baby goat walking down the road... we do have to get the house up or something proper to live in this year though. It doesn’t have to be fancy, just water tight and with a woodstove, that’s all I need and I can take it from there. Meddling municipal government...

Oh, and the Goat snores!

I am so sorry for your loss, hugs, hugs, and more hugs (I can’t get the emojis up right now) She was a beautiful girl and we will all remember her fondly here too.
