Another Snowy Day

Today started out cold and cloudy. More snow was on its way. I took some fresh hot water out to the ladies for in their run. Phyllis decided she was done being cooped up and ran between my legs when I opened the door. She stopped right outside the door an started snacking on the snow. I figured no harm. It was going to snow soon and she would head back in as soon as it did. I don't like only 1 entry/exit to the complex so I opened the side door and Sydney was out as well. While Phyllis ate some snow around the doors, Sydney was of to the deck where she knew snacks were waiting for her.

While there, Sydney enjoyed some ice along with her snacks.

She then demonstrated for everyone else that the pool cover will not melt your feet

After Sydney and Phyllis has completed their little journeys, the snow arrived. Inspired by @RoyalChick I went ahead and captured a slow motion snow for your pleasure.

I think the expression I captured here on Aurora's face as the snow came down, says it all.

It's a rather warm day here and watching the snow falling slowly was a delight.

No cake, just fresh mango slices 😁 that's their favorite treat. Even shy Brenna stepped up to take them from me. Sadly I didn't get pics since I was holding sticky mango!
I'm glad they got their favorite! You should on your birthday.

I will not bring them in. They have survived much colder with no ill effects. Whether the Vaseline works or not Daisy, the greatest hen ever, survived more than -10°F (-23°C) outside with no comb frostbite. Her comb was huge. She hated the Vaseline but no comb damage.

As far as bringing them in, the temperature delta is more worrisome to me. Eventually you have to take them back out and it will be a dramatic shift to really cold. I am more wortied about the effect that will have on them. Rapid changes of 20°F or more are said to be hard on them

The Queen's Comb. Daisy actually won a best comb contest on BYC once.

She’s so cute with her fabulous comb! Am I seeing this right? I never noticed a slightly twisted beak on Daisy before? Endearing!
