I am finding out that my new chicks have very different “patterns of peep” and different places they like to perch. (For example, Coco prefers the bridge of my nose. Shanny likes the top of my head. Xzit, loves to snuggle as close to my neck as possible. Maybe it’s just me, but I can tell who is making which noise from across the room. And if they feel stressed.
I totally believe that. I know every voice in my flock, when they are happy, when they are stressed, etc. I would expect nothing less from you.

Warm Water

They line up every morning now when I bring fresh water out. Hattie is always first.

I sat in the run with them for a while yesterday morning. Something has happened to my relationship with Sansa. She would not eat any meal worms from my hand and kept a wide berth from me at all times. I wonder why? 😥

Some photos from our time together.

My Rocks-Anne has been distant lately too. She rarely wants to be picked up and held. (But gets mad when I ignore her)

That is adorable and I would expect nothing less with your chickeneering skills. But why are they stressed?

Looks nice and peaceful. No idea on Sansa - you probably inadvertently offended. I am sure you will be forgiven in time.
That doesn’t look like the heated waterer is it Bob? Aren’t you needing to carry water out several times a day in this weather?
I am just back inside after refilling the heated waterer which, as you know, is quite a palaver. But particularly with this much snow I am so glad not to be carting water over the snow mountain 3-4 times a day!

That is not a heated waterer. Every morning I take out a waterer full of warm water from the house for them to have in the run. It lasts a couple of hours before it freezes. It is a luxury I provide to warm them up after a cold night. The rest of the time they have the heated waterer in the coop.

Maggie squatted for me today for the first time in five months (since the lash eggs), so I scratched her back and then she turned around and yelled at me for several minutes.
what did I do wrong? :idunno
Who knows! 😆 Hens.............

Oh I like that idea. I think I will start doing that. This morning they got an eclectic mix of warm water from the kitchen faucet and snow. The result of my refilling operation.
