i keep birds even if they dont lay eggs any more. Floppy is laying less but ill love her no matter what.

Same here. Mine are pets, too. Most, if not all of us on this thread keep them as pets. I even have one I keep on hormones NOT to lay.

I’ve heard it’s not meant to be good for them, but we get eucalyptus leaf litter and I don’t think it’s caused any harm.

Well I bucketed in heaps from under a gum in the front yard (all leaves very brown and dry) and covered the ground of the run.
They are having so much fun scratching around, pecking at insects and just being so chickeny, no one is getting chased off etc.
My heart is light and joyful watching them, I really needed it today

Using dry eucalyptus leaf litter in the run is ok, right?
Want to be prepped for when the weather turns wet

I deep litter using gum leaves. As Lozzy says, it's not meant to be good for them but it's what I have, it's free & it doesn't seem to be hurting anyone.

No idea I'm afraid. I imagine if it is composted down or well mixed with other things it shouldn't be a problem.
