I adore these birds!Anna brought the Pretties in today. They enjoyed a cuddle puddle on the back of the couch.

So I put "sad" on this post here because you have nothing to apologize for! You said nothing you shouldn't have said. I think your reference to New Jersey probably is what got people laughing, it did give me a chuckle, because you are absolutely right - Northern New Jersey ain't no wilderness, except maybe to southern New Jersey residents!I don't know why everyone is laughing at this post. Did I say something I shouldn't?
I was being serious. Sometimes I wake up and just really feel grateful for everything good in my life. Sorry, maybe too maudlin to share. It was something about the beauty of the sun on the snow that set me off.
Also, it is an inherited weakness. My Dad when he was in his 90s used to weep sometimes out of the blue, and when asked why, he would say "because everything is so lovely", or "I read some beautiful poetry".
Mind you, he also wept whenever he watched the news on TV and saw cruelty and war and so on.
I guess he just cried easily.
I will show myself out and come back when I am feeling more normal.

They really are stunning! They really are the sweetest things!❤ They've developed a bit of SLM so I soaked legs and medicated this afternoon. Here they are drying out post-soak.

Thank you. Yes, I can see the NJ thing is pretty funny! So I put "sad" on this post here because you have nothing to apologize for! You said nothing you shouldn't have said. I did a "love" on your previous post, not a "laugh", because I think I understand your love of the place and the connection with nature you get being there. I feel the same here. It's really GREAT! Also, I often think it can be better to have your own well water and septic system and tend to it yourself. Get your wood hauled in and / or gas delivered for heat, and to deal with your own garbage (though we can get that last service here if you pay for it). Every year some neighborhood somewhere in the US blows up from ruptured natural gas lines, and we've all heard about Flint MI, besides our own town's occasional boil water advisory due to some water main break. Where I grew up, our house sewer was always backing up and flooding in the cellar because the town's trees on the street were growing roots into the lines, and the lines were old, and they wouldn't fix them.
There are problems to solve wherever you are. While I can still manage it, I prefer the independence of the countryside.
Chicken tax. Queenie shortly after first joining the flock - demure and in a good sheltered position with an escape route. View attachment 2539990

Oh yes, I am sooo glad too!Thank you. Yes, I can see the NJ thing is pretty funny!
Queenie is very pretty. I can't believe that only a few weeks ago we were discussing whether you could keep her or not.
So glad you made the right decision there!
Where do they live now?Thank you!
I've decided this Spring to build them an aviary. They really like to fly and Phoenix has lost almost all of his long tail from catching on the frozen ground.
I found a 12' X 12' chain link dog run for free and I'm going to use that as the bones of their run. I'm going to build a small coop and the rest will be roosts of varying hight.
