Good points. Temperature I think was a factor. Her birds were off heat but our temps suddenly decided to do extreme swings & on top of the stress of moving plus anything else that might have been going on I think the smallest didn't cope. Lesson learned. Won't ever be getting them that small again.

Depending on rarity of breed I expect to pay quite a bit more for POL. That is the usual practice round here. Chicks are cheap & there are lots of loses. POLs have proven their hardiness. One thing I look for is cleanliness. Despite the numbers of birds there is absolutely no smell @ all. Someone that careful about their keeping practices is probably careful in other matters too.

I'm not discounting the breeder could be @ fault but if I'm honest I think the fault is most likely mine. I'm sorry the birds paid the price for my ignorance but I will know better another time.
I really don't think you were at fault. It may just be one of those things. And the temperature swings sound like the most likely contributor. :hugs

How nice! Congratulations! That WAS a really good post, pictures inside and outside. I particularly liked the chickens looking out at the snow from inside.
Thank you. You could feel the sadness as they stood there quietly and watched it fall. Poor babies.

I have thought about a cattery or outdoor run but it seems the windows have been sufficient for them.
I let mine out very rarely and only when I am around. I always let them out after a big snowstorm because basically they won't go more than 2 feet from the house as they really do not like getting cold wet feet! :lau

There is a subtle cruelty to you that I had noticed before. You want to go out kitties? Sure! [Cue evil snicker] He he he

I like it! 😆 🤣

I did feel evil this storm as they were sooo keen and it was soooo cold. They ran out and ran right back in. They didn't even explore the area they had that was snow-free.

Only because I have done the same thing myself a dozen times. Sorry, not meaning to be unkind. Just recognizing a fellow traveler along the highway to old age.
RC, you were the first to tease me about my question, (But, obviously not the last) I better just not post silly questions to this studiously superior group! :old :lau Yes I’m only kidding

Good morning fluffy butt friends. Hopefully by this afternoon the insanity of the past 36 hours will be over. And I just want to say, I hate the new management at my family dr's office. Will go into detail later, after my brain is not so foggy, but long story short, my insulin pump bit the dust with no warning what-so-ever. This happened in the middle of the night, and i spent all day yesterday on the phone, then went in person trying to get them to change my prescription so I could go back on the shots like i was in the past. It was my dr's day off, and finally this morning got them to switch me back over "If I wanted to". So hopefully tonight my blood sugar levels will be back down into the normal range and I can kiss the 400 to 500s goodbye.
