Seemed to! :D Although the hood kept slipping back a bit so kept getting spots of rain on my glasses, which was a bit annoying. If I wear my hubby’s cap underneath, it’s peak would fix that. It seemed to keep the rest of me dry though! Need to wear it when it buckets down, see how effective it is, although my shoes and trouser hems would get soaked. A random stranger complimented me on it at the shop!

That's awesome! Great job.

Quick Hit Flockservations

I may have lost control over my chair, first Aurora and now Hattie. And someone has no respect for the cushion. That poo was nasty.

Lilly laid again. She spends hours in there when she does. I'm afraid she may be cranking up to lay one a week. I need to keep a better watch on her.

I've been in for fluids. :( Drs office, then to ER. ER doc sent me home with prescription for potassium and one for nausea. Dr said today to drink a lot of water with this medication I'm on now. Thank you. 💞. You went through the same??

If my memory serves, your husband is in poor health, and you care for him. Do you have to help clean him after the bathroom visits or for bathing in general?

The reason I ask this is perhaps he might be a carrier (colonized w/bacteria but without symptoms) but it effects you do to your poor immune system. I only mention this so that all avenues of possible infection are looked at, not just the chooks.

Fact: A lot of animals can transmit C diff. Dogs and cats are well known carriers and far more likely transmitters than chickens.

Fact: Once you have C diff, you always have C diff. It is the normal flora (the bacteria already in your colon) that keep it at bay.

Fact: C diff is highly resilient and is frequently found on the skin of people who have had it for long periods of time afterwards.

Fact: The typical C diff outbreak requires something to upset your normal flora. Usually that is an antibiotic but it could be something as seemingly innocuous as eating too much broccoli. 🥦

Opinion: I believe that it is far more likely that you are having a reccurance of your own C diff than you caught it from hatching eggs, chickens, dogs, a friend who is a nurse, anything else.

My mother suffered with C diff for years. It is a terrible disease. Her's was antibiotic associated. It recurred at random. We could never figure out why it decided to recur at any particular point. It was only cured by fecal transplant. Despite that, she still lives in fear that it still could recur at any point.

My thoughts exactly @BY Bob

@Cynthia12 I do hope you recover quickly, but please don't jump to getting rid of your chickens just yet.

No, not at that point yet. I'm still going by what I did...last year when this happened, but wasn't diagnosed...to the same thing this year being diagnosed. Hatching, and having chickens again after not having them for over a year. Last year..spring.. I was in the Drs office and the ER for fluids. In October I was in to have shoulder surgery. They sent me home after the lab showed my potassium at 2.7. They told me that I was two points away from being hospitalized for it being so low. This time in the ER I was at 2.6. He had me take three horse pills, which I was having a hard time taking. He told me if I couldn't swallow them then I would have to stay for the IV. I broke them in half! Swallowed.

Yes, sadly I've been reading. 🙄. I know it could be from something else, I figured I had this last year but wasn't diagnosed, and from reading I realize I could be suffering from it for a while. I also have something else going on that is hard to explain. I call it woozy head. Seeing another doc for that this month.. have seen a nuero.. I won't get into detail, but from having this horrible tummy thing plus this other, I've honestly been having a hard time doing/taking care of the chickens. Our son has helped but he and his wife work and he doesn't have the time to help as much as I need. I just don't feel well enough with this stomach thing. I used to get out there and clean like no other. I also don't want to take any chances. What if I'm a lucky one and this course of treatment helps and I don't have recurrence? I can hope. I'm getting old. I have to be well..I want to keep my husband home to die. I need to take care of me best I can. My kids thought at first it was stress causing my stomach problems. Maybe. 🤷. Stress very well could have caused my immune system to misbehave. Stress can cause a lot of problems. I'm slowly losing the love of my life. Yes, I'm stressed. My chickens need to be where they can be taken care of. I honestly thought I could do this again when I started a couple of months back. :(
