By the way Salmonella can also be spread by dogs and cats. Don't hug and kiss your dog and cat. Not quite the same headline, right? Horses as well

My state department of health did the culture for me when I was trying to figure out what was wrong with Patsy. It is a poo culture. Your vet should be able to order it for you. You don't have to test them all. If one is negative, all are and if one is positive, they all likely are.
Wash your hands. That's all it takes, in general, to defeat Salmonella.
I was once interviewed by the NY Times for an article on Salmonella in backyard chickens. If anyone is interested I could try and find the article.
