I do it when they are on the roost at night. They pick their foot up and step backwards. It's the easiest way to get them off. They step right into my other hand. Tap one leg then the other. I've used it with Phyllis a lot. Mal too.

I will try again when she is actually asleep. She was just hanging on the roost admiring the view.
I confess I am skeptical at my ability to pull this off!

I don’t think I have that technique down. I am not sure where to tap and if I should be facing her or behind her.
I certainly tried, she stood solidly on both legs and stared at my hand with real puzzlement and then ignored me!

I will trade you birds RC. I have a strict (two feets on the ground at all times) rule here. When I find any chicken standing on one leg, I remind them of the rule.

Was in the chicken yard sitting in a relatively clean chair and Piscia wanted to fly up to perch with me... or on me....
she missed and landed on my back, kind of. My hair was down and I had flashbacks to the parrot being tangled in my hair. Maybe I freaked out a little and made it worse.

Anyway...I now have an 8 inch scratch down my back and a chunk of skin missing.

Turns out playing with the chickens in a backless dress isn't a great idea.

I am happy to report that I am finally caught up with the thread... for now! It's been a while since I've last been on here. The abandoned baby chick I found a couple weeks ago have been keeping me busy... I decided to name her Kiko, which means hope! She's doing well, but is constantly in need of lots of love and attention, not that I'm complaining!
