MILLIE IS ON A ROOST!

Sorry for the shouting, but my previous post about Millie’s broodiness being over was false. I’ve been crazy busy at work and haven’t tended it to the broodiness properly. Last night she was in a nest box and Ruby was beside her when I got home after a late meeting. She’s gone to bed early, and there’s not much in her crop, but at least she’s on a roost. Eating isn’t typically a problem for Millie. Only when she has a severe molt or goes broody.

Does anyone else’s phones insist on saying Xbox when they try to say nest box when doing voice to text? LOL!

Thank you! I wish I could enter the photo, but I already entered three images when they first opened the contest! 😅

By the way, if there's ever any typos in the things I post, I'm blaming it on Kiko 🤣

Picture of the week then.

By George, you're right! We finally were able to verify that it is a checkered garter snake. Supposedly very easy to tame and makes a great pet. Uh...no thanks. I took it out for the chickens to play with. They were not impressed.
Really? How big was it? My flock would have eaten it !

Not worried. Upset.

SPOILER - Feel free not to watch this video. It is deeply upsetting.

Why does Maggie drag her out of the nest box - it isn't even the box Maggie likes to use?
Why does Diana lay into her once she is pinned on the floor?
Why is there such a prolonged and brutal attack?
Why, once she escapes doesn't she run out - there are lots of exits and lots of space?
What did poor little Minnie ever do to offend?

I know there is nothing I can do about this but it is really distressing to me.
Oh my goodness, RC!!! I think the chooks have lost their collective minds recently. My older girls are all moulting & as bad tempered as can be & squabbling over who will roost where. Last night Morrigu flew up to the top roost. As there was no space she landed on several backs, scrabbled around over the top of everyone & only didn't fall down because she kept grabbing scruffs & hanging on for dear life! 🙄 :he I'm barely getting any eggs @ all so the shenanigans are less than appreciated. But no~one biffed her like that!:hugsHugs for you. I think you need them more than the chooks do.
