Ooops, did I have a bit of a rant...
Yep, I feel a bit better thanks. I made the mistake of reading the general forums prior to posting. I've also had the misfortune of being shown some of the chicken posts/advice on Facebook by my daughter.
Not having chicken pictures to post means I'm liable to think about what others have written instead of just blasting through the posts pressing the like button. Bound to end in trouble.
I'm going to be sticking to building my Etsy shop for a few days so rant fodder should be minimal for a while. Don't worry though, I'll still find plenty of rant fodder later.

I don't know that one either. Probably just as well...When I did my degree my minor was in theatre. I can be very pernicky & hard to please when it comes to drama.

By George, you're right! We finally were able to verify that it is a checkered garter snake. Supposedly very easy to tame and makes a great pet. Uh...no thanks. I took it out for the chickens to play with. They were not impressed.

They did not eat it? I'm sure mine would have eaten it.

Hugs for you. I think you need them more than the chooks do.

I think this is the thing. We are traumatized more than they are because this is how their society works. They can be cruel but it would be necessary for their survival. We anthrpromorphize them into what we want to see them as not what they are. Therefore we are traumatized when Phyllis gets pecked in the face for no apparent reason.
