Am I right t in assuming the chickens torn that all up?
No, there was a shovel involved too, it used to be big clumps of razor grass, I think I showed pics of it all covered in cardboard a few months ago. They helped a lot though, 😊 and they are in charge of leveling and mixing in the compost when I get it in the next few weeks.

Hazel did this a few days ago, emerged from the nestbox and THEN did the motions of making a nest! Before she goes in she doesn't do it.
But it does look like throwing laurels on oneself after a feat, and why not? They deserve it! :love
Mine only do this when broody and I make them come off the nest.

Except for the leghorns (my two are definitely not lap chickens) :(

Hubby and I were enjoying the garden this morning when I noticed Edwina stalking across the grass picking up twigs and leaves and tossing some of them over her shoulder.

Sure enough, there was an egg in the nest box. 😂

She is looking great! I am glad she has the egg-laying thing down because the same cannot be said of her nest building!
:lau

Aurora does this, I just don't understand why?
It reminds me of when I'm looking for the scissors and wander through the house making vague scissor movements with my fingers. 😁
