Protected

Phyllis is protected until I can split the coop. View attachment 2754444
I'm happy she is protected now, but sorry your other girls are making it difficult so you had to resort to these measures. It boggles the mind they destroyed the nest and tossed eggs. I have the opposite problem when a hen is sitting in a favorite spot. Instead of tossing eggs, they will climb in with the momma to be, even if it means sitting on top of her to lay their eggs so she'll tuck them under her. If I do not block her off and mark her eggs, I run the risk of staggered hatches.

Well I just found disaster out in the coop. Phyllis was off the nest and I was going to exchange the eggs for ceramic. What I found was shocking.

Someone had destroyed her nest.

All but 2 of her eggs were strewn about the inside of the coup and one of the two in the nest were broken. I removed the broken egg, put the 3 ceramic eggs in with the one good one. Gathered the others from our in the coop and rebuilt the nest.

When I was done Sydney came is to lay her egg. And she took the nest box. A short while later Phyllis showed up waiting to get in the nest. Once Sydney is done and Phyllis is back in I'm going to wire Phyllis in.

That will buy me time to split the coop.
Was the camera set up.

Sorry I missed this I fell asleep

Well tomorrow afternoon Blueberry's siblings and Bunny's 2 boys that I held back go to their new home. That means tomorrow evening it is time to transition Blueberry to the proper roost. I'm also hoping I can integrate her into Raven's little group. I do not think it will be too hard as throughout the day the 2 groups intermingle. With her siblings gone she should hopefully stick with them from here on out.

Oh and I forgot, Alex you will be very happy to hear this. The reason Bunny's 2 boys are going with Blueberry's siblings. He asked if I had a boy or two. Once they get used to their new home they will have .5 of a acre to free range in during the day and wanted a boy or two to help keep the lookout for predators. He is also very happy to hear that all 8 chicks he's taking were broody raised as he thinks they are better suited for free ranging.

My little Xzit hurt her foot today (scratching, and found broken glass) she’s resting in with me now. I cleaned up her wound, but I don’t like any of my birds getting hurt. I think she’s accident prone. :(
Glass China and plastic appears from everywhere in my garden. Sometimes really old thick glass that isn't made anymore.

On Friday I found an old tie in the earth. I hope I don't find human bones. It's really weird how these things surface

I hope she's ok
