The sunlight was hitting Bean's feathers just right to light them up purple and blue!

Possibly, but I feel what I feel, thank God for Simon and Garfunkel music!
Sorry (not sorry) to preach, but what you feel likely will not be changed by a line on your resume in terms of rank or title. :old You've mentioned you saved some people's lives in your past work. I think your work these days when you patrol could conceivably also save lives. You were a true friend to your neighbor while she lived. You've also helped many chickens live great lives and you continue to do that. Remember these things. They all qualify as Hero achievements in my book! :clap

My Red is indeed rumpled! She’s been like that from day one. This is the first time that this farm has had a rent a hen program, and while I think it’s a neat idea in theory, now that I know more about hens I don’t think it’s fair to them, to be honest. The owners are really nice yet farm animals are just farm animals to them. They make sure they have the necessities and even free range their birds, I don’t think they are to in depth with chicken phycology! As I have discovered, chickens HATE change.

That is why I haven’t taken them up on changing out two of them for ones that will produce more eggs. They are all used to me and their flock now, I don’t care if they are free-loading.
I love the way you think. Great job putting them first.
