They destroyed my patio, they fought each other for treats. They are being very mean to each other. They tried to ignore me (unless I had treats in my hand) and even in this heat, Jaffar is being very much a rooster today. Yes, I received plenty of eggs from the hens, but at what cost?

Haha! Yep. I call this the “honking” stage.

I went to the state fair. It had fewer animals than normal as people had pulled out because of Covid.
But I did get to see lots of bantams. I knew bantams are small and I have seen @Ribh’s crowd in pictures and video but I don’t think I had appreciated how tiny they really are. I remember Ribh being worried about chicks because they are so tiny and I certainly see why.
There were Nankin bantams which are apparently rare.
And then there was this fine looking fella. The markings on his feathers are gorgeous!

An underdeck coop is one thing. Do they get to come out and experience the world is another. Patsy and Lilly never left the under the porch coop. They barely got any sunshine. I am certain they never had a true sunbath or ate any grass until they came to live with us.

I know that yours would be allowed to be chickens in the sun. An under the deck coop is actually a good idea.

We have an under deck wood pile

The flock finds it a great place to hang out during the winter....so does the cat...all year....unless the chickens invade. Then he's disgusted and stalks off (secretly intimidated).

Yes, Bantams are certainly a whole 'nother world! And some bantams are larger than others. True bantams [those with no standard counterpart] tend to be quite a lot smaller. My Japs are a bare handful, as are my Belgians. Even now I'm terrified of accidently hurting one.

Found it! This was 5 years ago, and I have a baaaaad habit of finding a pattern, making it without adding it to my project record....i also have several THOUSAND patterns saved in my ravelry library, and also have a habit of using a bit of this pattern and a bit of that pattern and this trick from a book, and a twist from my imagination....makes it challenging to make again when I really like something, but gave it to someone.

Yep. I use a pattern for a particular thing & don't save it then go demented trying to find it again. My book marks has hordes of patterns I've never actually used. I have something backwards here.

Not quite. A blue marker and a brown marker= a blue egg with a brown overlay: green to olive depending upon how dark the brown is.

I opted out of both math & science in High School so I'm pretty clueless in both areas.
