Getting used to being out of the run.

23 chickens roost in this coop. I gave it the first proper clean out it's had for some time judging by the state it was in. It took 2 hours. It needs doing again and some repairs to the floor and new roost bars. About half the hens use what passes as a roost bar atm. I didn't take any pictures of before and after because even after it's still pretty disgusting.View attachment 2858796
There are now seven of the Ex Batts that have accepted me as a good thing and follow be about as I weed. Today I saw three of them fly after a fashion. They all looked a bit shocked that they left the ground.
This one gets on my leg if I sit on the ground.

Yikes to 23 chickens in there. Lovely that are getting to know and trust you!

Had I known that sooner, I wouldn’t have gotten the New Hampshire red hens that I fell so in love with. (Then died so young) :( I have some now, but I expect a shorter life span with them. But I will love them every day they are with me!:love
Alex, my New Hampshire Red died very young also.

Good morning my friends.

I had a wonderful experience last night meeting with a lady I have known since I was very young.
We lost each other for such a long time and now it's like we have never been apart. What's very peculiar is we think almost exactly the same. She rescues all sorts of animal's like I do and have similar health views .

Thank you, Bob. But I hate myself right now. Don’t worry, I’ll get over it. But how can I ever forgive myself? The vet told me there was a mass. At the beginning, she doubted cancer because it had been going on for so long, where usually they die. I never asked again. :(

Please let this be a lesson to all of us. Saving your chicken is not always best. If they are a little bit off, they are probably WAY off.

Anyway, this is the prelim, but cause of death is obvious. I’d still like to know what they think about Marek’s, and hopefully will learn in the final.

Hugs for you and all your girls
